Had someone ask me about setting up a camera setup like I have on my drones that I fly so I thought I'd share some info....
You have a target at say 3000 yards.......easy.......I've flown a lot further than that.....

You build a drone, without the aircraft, simple.....Would be easy to set this up, be happy to do it for a small consulting fee.....

First you need a small tripod for the video camera, and then the parts:

Video Camera:
This is the one I prefer for my RC drones.
Super WDR Low Illumination 650TVL SONY CCD OSD Pinhole Camera 3.7mm

Video transmitter:
2.4Ghz 500mW 8Ch A/V Transmitter Lawmate

Video Receiver:
2.4Ghz Lawmate video audio receiver

You need an antenna for that receiver, the TX comes with one.
This might be optional, hte TX comes with two and under 1000 yards both would work fine.
But this one guaranteeds a clean signal:
2.4 GHz 8 dBi Flat Patch Antenna - 4ft SMA Male Connector [RE09P-SM] - $32.95 : Ready Made RC LLC, Your full service FPV and R/C store!

A BEC to power the video transmitter since it runs on 12v, you need a step down regulator, this is what I use, USA made, and they are reliable:
Castle Creations | CC BEC and CC BEC Pro

Battery for the system, probably last you 8hrs, you'll need one for the receiver side too....

1800 or 2200 is fine, 3 week delivery time from China, the USA warehouse is out of stock:
Turnigy nano-tech 1800mah 3S 25~50C Lipo Pack

2200:
Turnigy nano-tech 2200mah 3S 25~50C Lipo Pack

Worked well out to 4 miles with basic antenna.......(8dbi receiver antenna) others have gone 20 miles with clear video, same setup.

I should build one of these and sell it.........Anyone interested?

Doing the ma th, plus connectors etc, comes out to about $300 before my labor......take a day to set it up, so call it $500 plus shipping.....

Unfortunately if I do this I have to order at least 4 parts of each, due to the fact that China is SLOOOOOW in shipping, all parts take abouit 3 weeks to get here....

i'm toying with building one of those setups for use at the local 600 yard range. There is no pit service, I figure mount it in a cabela's/bass pro ammo box and it should be good to go. just set it some 10 yards back from the target should do the trick...

Yes and Yes......

Some people are not electronically proficient is all, so as I said for a consulting fee I'd set it up but otherwise there's all the parts listed above :)

Small board - butwith the 500mw Lawmate a cooling fan is required as well as a mod to the underside of the heat sink.
Best to find the 200mw Lawmate.

They get warm. :)

Another dead as fuck thread resurrected. In the future you may want to write something like "hey, I know this is an old thread but wanted to see......". Otherwise people are going jump your shit, like I did.

Money's tight right now but Id be interested in the future with one caveat. USE AMERICAN PARTS AND FUCK THE GODDAMN CHINKS. Even if it costs a bit more.
