I just got done searching a ton of threads, but still need help. Here's what I'm looking for...

I just got done with a hog trip, and shot quite a bit prone...and found one major shortcoming with my Vais--DUST KICKED UP!

I'm looking for a brake that:

1) doesn't have holes on the bottom
2) does a great job of reducing recoil
3) won't make me lose sight picture because of dust thrown up in front of the scope.

Am I looking for a slotted brake, or does someone make one with holes on the top and sides, but not on the bottom? I wear hearing protection, so noise is a non-issue. Please give me a few suggestions so I can look at websites. Thanks ahead of time.

I use the 2 exclusive:
Ross Schuler brakes. They have 3 side discharging gas ports with 3 ports in the top as well

Harrell Precision slotted brakes. They have 4 side gas ports at a 12 degree angle that aid against barrel rise/flip. No extra holes just the 4 slots.

The CSR muscle brake and Armalite brake are the most effective. They will piss off your neighbors the most because of the rearward gas dischard, but that's why they're the mose effective.

surefire mb762ssal...like shooting a 223, and able to track shots/corrections

I like the looks of my APA little Jimmy brake. And it's just as effective as the little bastard.

I shot a 7mm WSM yesterday with an APA "Fat Bastard" muzzle brake. I will say that it was heavy varmit barrel contour but man, it was equivelent to a .410 shotgun. Just blew me away. Watching the impact like that is awesome!

This is the company that I use for my 338 Lapua, great quality and it keeps the dust and debrie from flying up around you or onto your optic. Tames the recoil really good to, if you need more recoil control go with a suppressor. Just click on the link below.

I like the looks of the Ross brake, tho.
