Very Nice! Love Mine Too!

How are you liking that Chassis? Are they out with a Folder Version yet??? Also if you don't mind, what's your current weight for this setup??? I'm trying to decide on a chassis for my 16.5" AAC-SD too. Thanks bro!

Love the chassis. It's by far the best for the money and IMHO it's the best chassis period. Just a heads up though...when I did the first test fit with the stock X-Mark Pro trigger, it didn't fit correctly in the trigger well or function properly. I had the intentions of installing a Timney 510 anyway (it fits and functions perfectly) so all is good. My scale is dead but if I had to guess I'd put it under 10lbs empty and its 37" long.

Size reference with a 16" AR with the stock at full open.

Being from Tennessee myself, I know all good things come from The South lol

Dang that's Freaken Sweet! The visual comparison puts it in perspective! Do they make a Folder Version yet? Also, we're do I go about ordering one and whats the wait time on one of these Rock Solid Chassis?

Question: I hunt out of a blind in Texas, would these short barrels be good or would the noise blow you out? with a break? Or because the barrel is sticking out the window would it be ok?

With a Brake it'll be loud probably spitting out a lot of flame in dark/low light conditions. If you're going to run a Short Action Caliber .223/.243/6.5/.308 etc then I suggest a Flash Hider instead. in all honesty Hunting is usually one shot situations and I'd imagine it'll be better to better hide your position and save your ears too.

Thank you, good advice.

look what you guys made me do :) I found this rifle to be very hard to deal with in the field with a 24" barrel and a 9" can hanging on the end. after looking this thread over I decided to hack it down a little. I had it cut at 16.5" threaded and recrowned by Dallas Shooting Supplies. I will get back with a range report as soon as time allows. It is a Savage FCP-K in .308. I am also building a 16.5" Savage in .223 using a McGowen Barrel with a 1 in 7 twist.

I am blown away! Shorty rifles have never been my thing, but some of the stuff you guys have done is absolutely incredible. I appreciate a good looking weapon as much as anyone, but am much more of a function over form person and all of these just look so damn handy.

Started a thread for it but figured I'd add it to the stockpile.

Ill update it with some accuracy results when I can.

You guys aren't helping me with the thought that I need to cut my .308 down to 18"! What kind of velocities are you seeing from the 18"? Thanks

Just built this .223 up. Trued Remington action, Nightforce base, Badger recoil lug & knob, Badger M5 bottom metal, Brux 1:8 twist barrel finished at 16.5" and threaded for suppressor. Stock is a McMillan A1-3 and trigger is a Timney.

Needs a rail and I can shoot it, thats my tirant on the end for pics but my cyclone should clear in a month or so. 16.5" aac-sd in 308. Optic is a 6.5-20 mark 4.

Short Action Customs, Bighorn receiver, APA knob, Jewell bottom-safety trigger, 16.25 inch 1-10 twist Bartlein (Black Ops Kukri profile) with 30BA brake and Rock Solid chassis. Barreled action and chassis will be Patriot Brown after the barrel gets spiral fluted. Ships any day now!

cool guns..
I was talking with the head of marketing today at Weatherby and suggested they take one of their 20" Carbines and cut the barrel to 16 and thread it.
Either that or the Hog Reaper, same gun with a different stock...
he is checking into it for me, I think it would be a cool option for guys wanting a nice little ready to go rifle

rrflyer, that is a sweet little rifle! I'll bet that's pretty handy, and is that the Bushnell 10x scope on top? If it is, I've had one before, and I thought that was one of the best scopes, dollar-for-dollar, you can get. I'd be interested when you get some accuracy results up. Thanks for sharing! :D
