I have some issues with the bolt firing pin spring assembly. Is there a set dimension for the spring length, and I measured the spring length approx 2.060 to allow the pin to drop into the cocking piece is this correct.I set the firing pin protrusion to around .035 to 040 not 050 to 060.I am having issues with misfires I installed the barrel myself and thought its either the pin, spring,or trigger .

You are on the short end of protrusion and if your headspace is on the long side in relationship to your case you are not getting the strike you need. If you compound that with short travel then you are dealing with lower enertia as well. Double check your headspace to where your loads have only .002 maximum case headspace clearance.

Verify the case headspace, verify the chamber headspace, put your protrusion at .045 insure that you are getting sufficient FP travel. One other thing may need to be adressed. You worked on the spring preload/length. we need to consider this...The cocking pin should be deep in the pocket of the bolt body cocking window. The deeper the more inertia the firing pin develops by moving further and having more velocity. You will feel the diference in the cocking effort once you move it closer to the bottom of the window. Once you have made sure you no longer have FTF then loosen the preload on the firing pin spring on revolution at a time until you feel good about ignition and the cocking effort.

Stangfish,I had set it FPP at .o50 and changed it to 35 to 40 today after the misfires. I read that at .035 was optimum. The spring is bothering me I had not been able to line up the pin so compressed it to About 2.060 is when it lines up with the teeth on the cocking piece for the hole. The only other time it lined up was bottomed out am I misunderstanding something.I set the head space using gauges and it was just a very snug fit then I loosened slightly for bolt drop.So I felt I did it correctly, but the barrel was a pacnor pre-fit in 6.5x284.Could it be the trigger maybe it did not drop or something because I was able to fire the round again it did have a strike.I don't care for the accutrigger but that's me.I just don't want to get hurt with a hit and a delay fire.As far as the FPP depth issue I read that you can't go thru the primer anvil at least from what I read so is that correct. So is there a correct length for that spring cause the bolt life is not bad.

I would have to tear one down to look at the 2.06 dimensions you speak of and I dont think I need to. Just me thinking out load and going along with the previous post. If .035 does not work it may not be optimum. If you have .005 clearance between the bolt face and the case head now you are down to .030. When I assemble a bolt I start with FPP adjustment. Then I work on the cocking pin position in the window. when the bolt is openened the pin slides up the side of the window until it is in the cocked bolt open position when the bolt is closed the sear cocking pin is pulled off of the shelf in the window and is held cocked by the sear. the triiger releases the cocking pin and the assembly accelerates towards the primer. The distance the pin travels untill it bottoms out on the back end of the bolt head is somewhat important more so if you cut your spring. It is one of the primary factors in the force applied to the primer. Light strikes are more than likely your issue.

Ok Stangfish I will tear him apart again,I will set the space back to .050. Also I understand about the spring for light strikes not enough force but wouldn't it happen all the time? Also is that spring adj like I mentioned not able to be adjusted only at certain spots because it doesn't seem to line up.

thanks Stangfish for your help I appreciate our knowledge about this.I am measuring the spring from top of the coil to bottom coil just a rough number.
