Just a quick overview of the SS 3-15x42 and it's features. As well as other sub $1,000 scopes that it compares to.

Great Review! The blooper reel at the end was hilarious, you have the same luck I do Bro : )

haha, thats great. how do you like those vortex rings? i just purchased a 30mm 5-20 HD swfa and am torn on best rings for that $100 mark.

So this scope has the same problems as the other non-HD glass scopes when it comes to using it at night I am guessing??? Not the best in the early early morning or late evening lowlights? This was my hopes here, but I may be outta luck... I have a few of the fixed 10X with side focus, great scope when there's enough light.

Maybe the 3-9 would better fit your needs? I guess it would not have the magnification range. I'm just trying to think of something w/ similar options in the same price range.

I'm guessing you're looking for a scope, that you can hunt with and shoot matches/long range with?

I think in this price range, you're finding scopes that are good at one thing. To find one with a lil bit of everything you'll really jump up in price.

Weaver 3-15x50. It has an illuminated EMDR reticle. Optics Planet has it for 789.99 and a 5% off coupon. SWFA will price match it at 110% the difference and offer free shipping. With BC flip caps, the total is about ~750. On top of that, there is a $100 rebate from Weaver: http://images1.opticsplanet.com/pdf/opplanet-weaver-riflescope-rebate-2013-1.pdf

end price should be about $650.

Thanks for the video. How would you say the weaver glass quality compares to the swfa glass? Looks like you own a weaver as well, right?

Thanks, I'm trying to get a Weaver, and PST to run them side by side. I think the main difference is going to be the options. At least for the price difference.

Nice video, I don't personally have a use for this particular scope at the moment but I like that SWFA is filling different niches with new products and I hope that trend continues. What kind of groups are you getting out of that mkii TR and w/ what ammo?

I hope you dont have any trouble with the Weaver 3-15,,I did and they couldnt fix it and said they didnt have any in stock and finally just sent my money back,,it turned out well enough and I was satisfied with how they finally handled it but I cant understand how Weaver couldnt come up with a new scope to replace it with,,I Loved the features but I replaced it with 4.5-14 LR M1 Leupold and gonna send it in for FFP TMR reticle,,

I've had a couple of the weavers and had good luck with them. I also have the PST, it's nice for the money. You may also want to consider the 3-12x44 bushnell with the g2dmr reticle but then again it's $899 compared to the SS @ $699. I think the SS is in a great spot to be successful.

If things work out I should have some more things to compare it to soon, as well as some better equipment to film it on. I'll keep this thread updated with it.

Looks like a nice option for a scope. Thank you for the review. Nicely done.

I have a Falcon Menace 4-14x44 on my TR trainer.

Works for me.

I believe the FM could be another scope option you could compare against the 3-15x42 SS in your review.

Falcon Optics

I just noticed they have an illuminated reticle version too. I don't know the price on it.

Disclaimer: I'm not a FM salesman nor do I advocate them over any other scope in this thread. I'm just including another option for your viewing pleasure.

OK - SWFA (among others) has them for about $350 for the non illuninated and about $400 for the illuminated. Looks like different knobs on the illuminated scopes.
