Savage model 10, .308, 168's. would you chose H4895 for your only powder? Or Varget?...
Also have .25-06.

Sweet! I wanna shoot 117/120 grains through my .25/06. Where can I get that program? Thanks for all the help.

I lean heavily toward Hodgdon powders. For me they are very predictable and consistent.

There are lots of powders that can be used for both calibers. I've never tried H100V, it is not listed for 308.

If you prefer to use the same powder for both calibers, H4985 or Varget are fine choices with good history of consistency and accuracy. It seems like Hodgdon likes the slower powders for the 25-06. If you are willing to use different powders H4895 for 308 and H1000 for 25-06.

Load em', shoot em', smile.

I use Varget, or RL 15 for 308. OR...here's a nice load. 37.3 Viht -135, behind a 168gr. BTHP. Viht powders are great! But they cost....

4895 gives me the best results with the 168's. I have not had any luck with Varget, I just sold the 4 pounds I had it didnt really impress me. Trying some reloader 15 now.

Id use 2000MR or CFE223 for the 308, not sure if those would work in the 25-06. RE17 would work for the 25-06 AND the 308.

Thanks guys. Love the responses. Good info on this forum. I enjoy reading and being a part of it. Will post results, but may take a few weeks.

H4895 before Varget for a number of reasons. For the 25/06 which I assume is for hunting I would have no problem using RL15 - it's not temp stable but if you zero near hunting temps you will be fine.
