I originally called and ordered up a set of badger max-50 rings. I asked for 34mm steel rings, highs or ultra high. They showed up and they were 30mm. I figured no big deal people mess up and i called them to see if they would make it right. I also told them i needed the rings by the following weekend
(it was monday) . I needed to sight my rifle in that weekend so its ready by the following friday when i leave to texas. They said no problem we will have them to you by Friday. Well Friday comes around and still no rings. I called and i was told they forgot to send them and they will next day air them for Monday (today) . I was a little mad but at least i would have them for the beginning of may which is what my deadline was for this rifle. I'm flying to texas with the rifle and i need it sighted in and ready to go.

Well guess what guys, the second set of rings showed up today. Yes they are 34mm but they are alloy and the low height. Not even close to what i ordered. I do not know how this happened twice and I'm now pissed off. I called and talked to chris and he tells me right away send them back and we will refund you. I'm guessing they don't stock the ones i wanted? Maybe they were hoping i wouldn't noticed they were aluminum or not the right height? I'm guessing this is why they are not going to swap them out for the right ones.

I was told ill be refunded once they can track the package which means i highly doubt I'll be able to order up a new set from someone else and have them here by friday when I'm suppose to fly out.

Thanks for the great customer service guys. I will no longer be ordering anything from SportOptics and I'm going to recommend to all my friends that shoot to stay away from them also.

If this is sport optics in Louisianna I am surprised. I remember doing business with them a few years back and they took care of a problem with one phone call. They are not in business to piss off people and I would bet they will do the right thing.

Just got a call from chris and he is taking care of me with some new rings next day.

So would you say crying about it on the Internet before allowing the company a chance to make things right was a good thing?

I went through sport optics for some Vortex Binos and they were excellent. Their site said Tax Free on my Binos, but when I ordered I was charged tax. So I called and spoke with Chris, and he said that it doesn't apply for residents IN Louisiana. But he would eat the cost anyways. And refunded me the tax I paid out of his profit.
In my personal experience I am impressed with SportOptics and will continue to use them exclusively. BUT, I do believe bad experiences need to be shared as well as the good ones. Glad Chris is getting you taken care of!

They're a pretty reputable vendor here dude and for the most part take care of their peeps. Every once in a while shit goes sideways and that's to be expected. When they make it right for you, make sure to post it here.

They are a very reputable vendor and aim to please always. Sometimes things don't go as expected. I assure you they didn't send you something in hopes you wouldn't recognize it. That insinuation is out of line and not of their character.

Actually, he gave them 2 chances before posting his personal experience.

Exactly.

Plus , Postings like this on a forum that has alot of customers of there's usually will get the company to deal with it in a more professional manner. After this was posted i got the call from Chris. coincidence? Maybe. But i doubt it.

Making it right is expected from any business but so is getting it right the first time. Just because a Company, whether they sell scopes or tires, makes right what they originally screwed up the first time doesn't mean they should be credited with a good transaction. How would you feel if every time you order from someone they always screw up. Oh yeah they make it right...eventually, but how would it feel? I run a business and my customers wouldn't tolerate mistakes whether I make it right or not, and I don't expect them to. I myself use the baseball rule.....three strikes your out.

In today's environment, it would be ultra easy for a company to make a mistake, even twice. It really matters how they try to resolve the issue. Sounds to me like they resolved the issue properly, and I would say you were too fast to jump the gun and take it to the internet. I also doubt they waited until you went screaming onto the Hide and then quickly resolved the issue. I think you would be wise to wait a bit longer before jumping to condemn them on a wide forum.
Just my $.005

It dosent surprise me that Chris resolved the issue. He is gtg and great to deal with. Looks like this was a fubar from the beginning. I'm sure SportOptics will watch this type of thing more closely in the future.

Yea, I sent them a PM back on Feb. 12th regarding a Kahles scope but still haven't heard from them. Guess they must be very busy in today's environment. :)

They would have resolved the issue properly by sending the OP the correct item the 2nd time around.

Like others in this topic I've dealt with Sport Optics on multiple occasions and they've always provided top notch service, before and after the sale.

It is unfortunate that the OP had not one, but two snafus. Hope he got sighted in and departed for Texas on time. Never had any problems dealing with Chris at Sport Optics and will order from him again. Over several years Sport Optics is about the only supplier that hasn't hiccuped at least once.

In a perfect world everything is delivered on time and to spec. I do not live in that world so build time into the schedule to cover at least one oops.

ever pick up the phone? You realize this sight is not thier place of employment right, yes they are vendors and on here alot but you cant hold a grudge about a lost PM on a sight that they are members on as an additional duty.

They have been awsome to me, hell they even went way outside of the norm to help me out to ensure I was satisfied and the transaction still happened when I ran out of dough unexpectabley after making payments on a scope, yes I said making payments, what company lets you do that?

Dudes get this... I walked into a room today a circle was drawn on a whiteboard with the words what is this?? Can you guys guess what it was?

I bought my S&B from Jay and Chris at Sport Optics over a year ago when S&B announced the MOA version of the P4F. I knew this was going to be a lower production scope (as the majority of this community is a buncha mil/mil commies) and gave them a call with some questions. They were extremely patient with me with the PMs and phone calls. When I finally pulled the trigger, they gave me an EXCELLENT price and the whole transaction was smooth.

Excellent knowledge base, prices, and support. I would not hesitate to deal with them again and recommend them to my friends/family.

If they advertise on a site and offer to provide a service and make a profit off of it, they should answer your PM's. Second they messed something up twice and he posted an experience that he had. Third he posted that he spoke with Chris and it was being resolved. All I see here is personal experiences that have happened. More positive than negative from the rest of the group. I work in a retail environment in which on more than one occasion I have messed something up twice. I have always gone out of my way for customer service, and made the things right. However if I screw up, and someone post it, I have to expect it. Same as posting the good. VJJ quit crying over some one posting the bad, I don't see you hooraying the good.

By the way my only dealing with Chris was exceptional.

Since when is the Burger King drive through a "retail environment"??

LMFAO...that shit is FUNNY!

ever pick up the phone?

As a matter of fact, I did. Twice with no answers. I'm not saying they're a bad company to deal with, absolutely not. I'm sure they're a GREAT company to deal with. I was just merely stating my experience with them....which pretty much ended with a PM and a couple of unanswered phone calls. That is all. ;)

I bought my first Night Force from Jay at Sports Optics they are good to go as far as I am concerned.

Quality guys that goofed up. Made good on it and on we go. I'm still buying from them.

So they made it right and you will never do business with them again? Stupid thread is stupid.

Who said they made it right? The new rings are not here yet.

Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk 2

Ok the 3rd set of rings just showed up and they will work perfectly. I appreciate them fixing this and will do business with them in the future.

Far as I'm concerned, they are good people, and good people make mistakes. Sorry you had a bad experience with them.

They've always treated me right and I will continue to shop with them.

I've found that generally with Hide vendors, they try their best to get it right. I've had other vendors make mistakes, but they always made it right.

Nothing wrong with posting bad with the good.
Nothing wrong with standing up for the folks who have treated you right, either... Hopefully all the people here have helped you understand that any mistakes that you have experienced were not typical. We have to stand up for the few folks there are, who provide excellent services to our community...

I didn't know there was anywhere else on the internet to buy Optics! Sport Optics just Flat Fuckin ROCKS!! If i need it i call Jay and Baaamm..... 2 days its here. If there is another place to buy optics I aint huntin it....... Just no need.

BTW You may want to Edit your Thread Title.

Chris is a stand up guy and takes care of his people.

Will everyone who's so quick to criticize please post a picture of yourself walking on water.

This past Sunday I was relaxing at the water’s edge of a local beach when a young boy ran full speed right by me and into the shallow surf. He continuously hopped up and down as he was running forward, kicking his little legs in the air and across the surface of the water before inevitably falling face-first into the waves. He got back up and repeated this act several times, each time with more determination than the previous attempt. It became obvious that he was trying to run across the surface of the water. I couldn’t help but to laugh. His combined levels of determination and exertion were priceless.

After several attempts, he noticed my laughter and walked over to me. “What’s so funny?” he asked.

“You remind me of me, and it makes me smile.” I said.

“Do you know how to walk on water?” he asked. “Like a superhero?”

“Well, I think I can help you out.” I said. “Let me give you a few pointers.”

Curious, the boy sat down on the sand next to me. His mother scurried over, worried… but I reassured her that her son wasn’t bothering me. Relieved, perhaps, to have her son sitting safely on the sand instead of flying face-first through the air, she went back to her beach chair 20 feet away and continued a conversation with another lady.

“So, you want to walk on water, eh?” I asked. He nodded his head anxiously.

A Rough Summary of What I Told Him
Make sure you were born to walk on water. – You must follow your heart, and be who you were born to be. Some of us were born to be musicians… to communicate intricate thoughts and rousing feelings with the strings of a guitar. Some of us were born to be poets… to touch people’s hearts with exquisite prose. Some of us were born to be entrepreneurs… to create growth and opportunity where others saw rubbish. And still, some of us were born to walk on water… to invent the capability of doing so. If you’re going to walk on water, you better feel it in every fiber of your being. You better be born to do it!
Decide that nothing can stop you. – Being born to walk on water isn’t enough by itself. We must each decide to accept our calling. Unfortunately, most of us make excuses instead. “But I might drown trying,” we say. Or, “But I have a family to think about first.” Walking on water, or doing anything that hasn’t been done before, requires absolute, unconditional dedication. The only person who can control your level of dedication is you. If you’re serious about walking on water, you must decide that nothing… not gravity, not a group of naysayers, NOTHING… can stop you!
Work on it for real. – While many of us decide at some point during the course of our lives that we want to answer our calling… to accomplish our own version of walking on water, only an astute few of us actually work on it. By “working on it”, I mean truly devoting oneself to the end result. The rest of us never act on our decision. Or, at best, we pretend to act on it by putting forth an uninspired, half-ass effort. But to truly walk on water, you’ll have to study physics, rheology, hydrophobic substances, etc… and then you’ll have to define and redefine next-generation theories and complex hypotheses, which must be tested relentlessly. When the tests fail, you must be ready to edit your theories and test them again. This kind of work, the real kind, is precisely what enables us to make the impossible possible.
Let the whole world know what you’re up to. – When you’re trying to walk on water, or do anything that nobody else has done before, life can get lonely pretty quickly. To keep your motivation thriving, it’s important to let others know that you’re attempting to defeat the formerly impossible. Don’t be shy! Let the whole world know that you’re trying to walk on water. No doubt, it’ll place a bit of extra pressure on your back, and you’ll almost certainly hear some laughter in the crowd. But this kind of pressure fuels motivation, which is exactly what you’ll need to accomplish such a colossal undertaking. And when you finally do succeed, the last bit of laughter heard will be your own.
Value the people who value your ambitions. – When most people hear about your “mission impossible” aspirations, their natural reaction may be to roll their eyes, call you crazy, and tell you to quit being foolish. But fortunately, the world is also inhabited by pioneers and believers who see the value in your dreams. These people understand that achieving the formerly impossible is one of the greatest gifts human beings possess. They’ll likely give you tips, bits of assistance, and the extra push you need to succeed. These are extraordinary people, and you’ll want to surround yourself with them, because they will ultimately assist you over the hurdles and across the surface of the water. Think of them as an influential, personal support team. Without them, walking on water will be a far more difficult feat, if not completely impossible.
Ignore the negative naysayers. – No matter how much progress you make, there will always be the people who insist that walking on water is impossible, simply because it hasn’t been done before. Or they may incessantly suggest that the idea as a whole is utterly ridiculous because nobody really cares about walking on water anyways. When you come across these people, don’t try to reason with them. Instead, forget that they exist. They will only waste your time and energy.
Prepare yourself for the pain. – Even though you’re no longer mindlessly running face-first into the oncoming ocean surf, but instead forming complex theories based on the studies of rheology and fluid viscosity, it doesn’t mean you won’t experience your fair share of pain. You’re in the business of walking on water, of doing something that has never been done before. You’ll likely get a waterlogged, lungful of water on a regular basis. But the pain will seem like a small price to pay when you become the first person to jog across the rapids of the Mississippi.
Enjoy the pain of your greatest challenge. - Superheroes aren’t real. In real life nobody has ever walked on water. But lots of people have achieved formerly impossible feats, and continue to enjoy the possibilities of new challenges. These people will all tell you there’s nothing more gratifying than the thrill of your greatest challenge. The inherent pains along the way are simply mile markers on your trip to the finish line. When you finally do finish, you may actually find yourself missing the daily grind. Ultimately, you’ll realize that pleasure and pain can be one and the same.
Never give up! Never quit! – The reason nobody has walked on water isn’t because people haven’t tried. Remember, you just tried several times in a row, and I’m sure many others have too. The reason nobody has succeeded is, simply, that within the scope of modern science and physics, it’s currently impossible. But this doesn’t mean that with your help it won’t become possible in the future. If you were born to do it and truly dedicate yourself to the end result, anything, including walking on water, is entirely possible!
Just a Chance
When we were done talking, the young boy got up and ran back over to his mother. He pointed over to me and I smiled and waved back. Then he said to her, “Mommy, mommy! That guy just taught me how to walk on water!”

A few moments later she walked over to scold me for supposedly giving out reckless advice. She told me I was giving her son a false sense of hope. I told her all I was giving him was a chance.

That was a great read with lots of common sense involved. I'm a business owner and I also make mistakes but guarantee my work. That means we will make it right. I think as a person trying their best is about good as u can get. I just got back from little league ball game with my son and it was not his best night. He came off the field sobbing and I really didn't know what to say other than we will keep working and try to get better. With that being said I think the post above would be all he needs to read and understand, nobody's perfect !!

Im local to the guys at Sportoptics. If I needed more optics Id buy everything from them. Jay even mounted a scope and rings for me that I didnt get from them.

Im glad they corrected the mistake. I think the original post in the first negative post Ive ever read about sportoptics.

Mark, People tend to look past what is important in life......our kids will always remind us what is. Glad someone saw it for what it was, Chris

Your experience with them is unusual. I've made many purchases from them over the years and recommended them over and over again. They will continue to be my "go to" vendor. I'm sorry you had a difficult experience, and I might air a problem as you've done in hopes of getting it resolved. However, in my experience the guys at Sport Optics are rock solid.
