Pressure or bad brass???

I bought this 300 win mag. Loaded below what the guy told me the load was and 19 rounds fired fine, then the last shot was this one. It was brand new Remington brass.

"I Loaded what some guy told me to load" is a fail on so many levels. If that's your reloading procedure, I humbly suggest you only buy factory ammo, and leave the "reloading" to someone with a modicum of common sense....before you hurt yourself (which might be Darwinian) or an totally innocent someone sitting next to you.

What part of "work up every load from below" is too hard to understand???

Dude can you even read???? Read my post again and see where I loaded LESS than what the guy told me, a lot less too. I've been reloading over 25 years. Dumbass!

To naval person yes it was a Winchester primer
 
There was a recent thread on just this subject. A bunch of guys have had this issue with the Winchester brand in the near past. Probably a bad batch of sheet brass or a forming/cupping die maladjustment. Thin spots on that edge let the pressure burn through. No real signs of excess pressure on the other primers. Edges nice and round. I'd write or call Winchester. They may replace them. Otherwise, I'd soak them in a light oil to render them inert, and dispose of them. No reason to keep flame cutting your bolt face.

You did say you loaded "below" what the guy told you, and then posted a picture below.....And I am supposed to put on my Karnak Hat and imagine that "below" meant "under the load given" and not "below" as in the picture.....Think about it a minute

So all we got from you was some vague bullshit, and are asked to evaluate your primer leakage with no supporting details.

And now you want an honest evaluation??? It was and is a Dumbass question, in form, content and totally lacking in detail. Like I said give up reloading, as you don't have the precision necessary to be successful. And you made it 25 years without hurting yourself??? The world wonders....

There is NO pressure signs on any of the other 19 rounds. The load is 72gr of Retumbo winchester mag primer 208amax. My quickload program shows 39851 for pressure which is very low. The guy i got it from ran 78gr and jammed the bullet .010
 
I've had one primer in a lifetime of shooting blow a tiny hole in the radius of the primer cup like in your picture. Another brand not Winchester. Looks like a bad primer cup and not bad brass. My bad primer with a hole in the radius blew gas and some small particles back at my face out of my bolt rifle.

I'm definitely no fan of Remington brass, but this does indeed look like a primer problem. Seen it before several times, and the manufacturer needs to know about it. If you still have the box, get in touch with them and give them the info. The may at least replace the primers, and in some extreme cases (where they know and will admit there's a problem) may even pony up to have the bolt face repaired if need be.
