Looks like a great place to start. Assuming your a new long range shooter you'll have a lot of catching up to do till you can outshoot the rifle. GAP does great work, I've shot a couple of their rifles and the quality of their work is exellent. Low round count, quality parts, I'd say go for it. As for the scope, that I would say depends on how far your looking to shoot, what type of predator hunting your doing etc. if you can get the scope cheap that may be the way to and save the extra $ on ammo.

.308 is a good cal to start with but you may want to also invest in a .22, much cheaper to shoot and a great place to learn the fundamentals. Again just an idea.

Another option would be search through the for sale adds on here. There are great deals on all sorts of guns everyday.

Looks like a good setup, and you don't have to wait several months to have it built.

I personally don't like fixed power scopes, but the military used a 10X for decades.

Finding .308 ammo is a little tough right now

I panned on a different scope
variable for sure
maybe a luppy or vortex,NF
I have the option with or without scope

I would say 300M outside max
I have a place to shoot 200m
Hunting it will vary
Sitting atop a mountain ridge....Who knows!

We have ALOT of coyotes here that are a serious problem
Boar
bobcat
groundhogs
Ect ect

I have several 22 rifles
But they arent much fun outside the yard{3 acres}
I think the 308 will be perfect
Can use for
dear
bear
and???

That sounds like a great choice to me!

Unless you have glass already, get the Loupy with the package as long as the deal is decent. That 10x will do fine out to 300 yards+. If you want to invest in better glass later, that 10x will do great on any of your .22s.

Totally my opinion based upon what I would do and not upon any depth of experience. Had I that amount ready for a purchase and that option came up, I'd do it.

This is a good deal provided that it shoots. The round count is low and it was built buy a top builder with quality components. If I was in the market for a new 308 rifle I would buy it. The scope should hold you over until you can land your hands on a Vortex 2.5-10x32 FFP or a SWFA 3-15x42 FFP.

The ammo shortage is only temporary and should pop soon.

guys
with the barrel thats on it
do ya see any problem shooting factory match ammo?
like maybe fgmm?
any ideas?

I almost bought that a few weeks ago, but talked myself out of it as I don't need another 308 at this time. Looks like a good deal.

You shouldn't have any problems shooting fgmm though it. It likely will do well with that ammo.

What twist rate is the barrel?

The other packages I was looking at are here on the hide
the one is an LTR with a mk4 for $1900

the other is a rem 5r with a wyatt dbm... no optics for $1200
that would leave me room to buy decent glass

looks like a great place to start, and if you feel the need you can always add on or upgrade from there. (not that it really needs anything; other than new glass of course.)

I would say if your looking for a 'custom' gun down the road or right now then go with this GAP build. The Remington is also a good choice if you'd like to save some money for some decent glass, and build off the Remington action down the road. Which is exactly what I did. Started with a 700 SPS and built it to be my signature below.

that was an sps?
long road huh?
the gap gun should be all I need for now
of course I could go with that total CUSTOM
gun on Armslist..Lol

Haha that full custom is the way to go.... Haha. But yes that gun in my signature was an SPS now all that's left of it is the reciever.
As others have said (if it were me) I'd go with the GAP and shoot the shit outta it!

Seems like a fair deal. Not a great deal. Cant say I would buy it for that price. Did he tell you how much he had into it? It should be OK but make sure :
its shooting half inch and shooting factory amo MOA.
