I was out shooting yesterday and realized with my new Bell and Carlson A5 medalist stock that my ear protection does not work i have the slim howard lights electronic and i love them but i need ear plugs so i can shoot comfortably but I want them to be electronic any suggestions ?

thanks in advance

I have the Peltor (tactical 6?). It has a higher NRR than the Howard Leights. The HL's were the only thing that would fit under a helmet at the time though. The size is nice but they are still loud. Peltor made some smaller ones that wrap around the back of the neck, narrow enough to fit under the helmet like the HL, but I think the rating on them wasn't much different.

I originally got the HL's for my wife and she complains about them still being too loud too. Those bigger Peltor's have been the only thing that works well for me, as far as electronic, and she doesn't complain with them either.

When not shooting suppressed, I ALWAYS double up on ear pro. Electronic ear pro with the volume turned way up over plugs works great.

Even if your muffs usually work fine, it only takes it slipping off one time to really ruin your day.

During a match I once had my muffs get pulled off one ear while changing positions and didn't notice (I was wearing foamies underneath, but the plug got pulled out too and I didn't notice) -- braked .308 touched off with your head in a barrel = not fun... permanent tinnitus from that.

I highly recommend getting fit for custom plugs and wearing them under your muffs :)

I have really high cheek bones. On my Manners T5A I usually wear the Surefire SD and a pair of Howard Light Impact electronic. That usually helps.

If you want custom plugs I would recommend Hear-pro. If you are interested PM me and I can give you a discount code for the AMP-39 or PRO-39. the amp-39 have an electronic hearing aid in them and the pro-39 allow voice level noise to be heard but block out noise over a certain DB without the need for a valve.
