Weather doesnt get much better than this, full overcast would have been even more perfect but yesterday was good enough. Shooting at 300yds, 5 shot groups. Mostly 42grs RE17 with 105 Hor hpbt, 105 Hybrids and 105 Noslers, didnt include the Noslers since they didnt fare too well which i believe was due to a fouled bore, patches were quite blue after a dousing of Hoppes #9 and after 45 shots all together, here are some of the targets, enjoy. My form probably needs some work, I used the hard hold technique, will try the softer hold next time out. In that 2nd target the group to the left was facing up when I shot it, yup, all my groups were displaying some vertical. Any suggestions as to get rid of that? There was a very slight south wind, and I was shooting out of the south. Could that be why I was getting the vertical? Again, it was ever so slight south wind.

Where in central WI? How many rounds since you had cleaned the bore? People seem to have real good luck with the 105 hybrids, I would stick with them.

Wausau area. I cleaned it after last weeks shoot, 3 patches of Hoppes #9. The barrel was clean when I started yesterday.

Your barrel shouldn't be fouling in 45 rounds, I have shot 350+ rounds from my .260 between cleanings and still didn't show a loss of accuracy. Maybe your gun just doesn't like the Noslers?

I shot the 2nd group of Hybrids right after the first set of Noslers and that group wasnt very good, must've went over 2" easily, then I shot that 41.5grs RE17 with the Hornadys(middle target, left group). Like I said, the patches came out very blue after I ran the Hoppes thru it. Last week the patches were not blue in the least after 28 shots. Maybe the Noslers fouled the bore for some reason. Not sure.

Jay,

Make sure you've got the parralax dialed out of your scope.
If there's mirage, turn down the magnification.
Watch the retical, not the target.

Last,

Chrony your loads and watch for excessive SD.

Any of these are big contributors to vertical.

I would scrub the barrel to bare metal, start laying down moly, and then never clean the thing again.

I personally would try a smaller aim point..

Funny you should mention that, Monday I had 30 copies made of the 300yd BR-3 target, figure I'll put my dot into one of the corners and fire away.

Chad, As far as I could tell the scope was focused as well as I could get it, everything looked pretty clear, dont have a chrono yet. The mirage was minimal, mostly cloudy that day, sun did peek out from time to time, week before I did have to turn it down, way too much mirage.

Tanner, How bout Boron Nitride?

FYI on the hybrids, I have shot a bunch in fclass, they like about 0.015 off the lands. Might have to tweak just a little off that figure. Just my two cents

Take a measurement of your neck tension. I had bad vertical issues when I found out I was well above 3 thousands. I am around 1-2 thou now and have barely any vertical at 300 yards. Also, excessive cheek weld and poor/gritty tracking during recoil can also contribute. As Chad mentioned, start with the chrony and get the SD down as low as possible and then work from there.

You should read up on adjusting the parallax out of a scope as Chad pointed to. Just because it appears in focus doesn't mean it is free of parallax. If you have any parallax in the scope it could explain some of your larger groups.

My neck tension is at about .002", I sprayed my bags with silicone spray before I shot, my cheek is barely touching when I shoot.
Ill have to read more about dialing parallax out of my scope, but never had any problems with that shooting my 308 out to 300 & 600yds last couple years. sample targets from my SPSS 308 here.

Maybe I missed it, but what is your Barrell twist? I had to custom order a Barrell to shoot 105 gr 6mm bullets. I have a savage in 6.5 that won't group 142's no matter what. . . The groups look identical to yours. I step down to 140's and its .5 all day long.

If your running a 1:10 or 1:9 maybe your not stabilizing, and I know, I'm not saying anything you don't already know Gorski. Hope it starts shooti f for you!

It's a 8 twist, shoots like this at 200yds the week before. Was somewhat windy that day.
