Gunsmithing 6.5 Grendel build

Hi guys I'm relatively new to building rifles, been in the military a while now so not new to rifles. I would like to build an AR platform in the 6.5 Grendel cal and would appreciate any info to get me going in the right direction as far as recommendations for parts and rookie mistakes to look out for. Any info would be greatly appreciatedThanx.

I have put 2 of those together,both of them I used Alex. Barrels, 1 has a Heavy 18" barrel, and the other 1 has a 24" Target Barrel that has some chamber work done to shoot Bigger Bullets (I am the second owner of that barrel. If the Grendel had came out in the mid 70's it would of saver me a lot of money! I let a good friend of mine talk me out of the 18" AR. Me putting the second one together! I am currently deployed to Afghanistan so this build won't take place for a nother few months but what I would like to do is gather as much information as far as recommendations for barrel, upper,... So as my deployment comes to an end I can order the parts and have them arrive close to the time I arrive back stateside. Since our Internet here is no good and is extremely slow I am un able to really serf the net searching for everything so any advise on any part of this rifle weather it be lower trigger or what have you I can go specifically to the web page and check it out vice spending the 20 minutes we get reading feedback on parts. I will most definitely keep in touch with you and thank you for you're help.

Straightforward build. My son built one for his HS grad present a couple of years ago...
123 Amax, and 8208 XBR works for his- and the rifle will hit a minute of angle plate at 600 if he does his part. Can't beat that bullet for the price.
Hornady now has the 123 in the SST for those that want a hunting boolit.

Barrels are still in short supply, but at least you can get lowers again...

I honestly can't see a reason to own any other chambering in the AR platform for anything other than cheap plinking ( if there is such a thing anymore).

I have an AR Performance 18" 264LBC and it shoots great but I would also look at a Satern Manufacturing barrel as the custom model gets cut rifling. Whichever one you decide, make sure you get a bolt from them as sourcing the correct bolt can be difficult.

I have a satern barrel on my grendel and I couldnt ask for anything more. I get less than 1/2 MOA groups at 100 yards. Ive shot ground hawgs at 500 yards with out a problem. using shooter to correct for my drop and a laser range finder it makes me feel like a pro.

+1 on satern. mine originaly 28" strictly for target then when i instaled ross break i ended up cuting it down to 26" plus break.few this you need to look on building grendel, one is the bolt theres two type of bolt grendel use one is type1 adapted from 7.62x39 theres few grendel still using this bolt.type2 is what satern AA lbc stoner use.and also using colapse carbin length buffer i would sugest using havier buffer or wolf havier spring,grendel has more recoil.
