As this was my 1st wildcat and ive only been reloading for a few years, it took me a bit. However I think I have a winner.
I'm shooting 41.2 grs. of RE-17 with 105 hornady match bullets. getting 3031 for muzzle velocity.
to tell you the truth, anything at less than 800 yards seems like cheating. HOLY SHIT this gun shoots better than me.
I shot the best day to date. Attached are the results. all shot from 800 yards.
conditions were varied as usual. Ill discuss the 800 (pulling it out @ random)
58 deg., 65% hum. full value wind 8MPH (gusting to 12 and
calculator called for 16MOA elev and 4, however actual values turned out to be 19elev and 10wind
I had 3 steel targets up 6, 12, 18" steel; and a 6" piece of lucite from work (long story)
I shot at the 18 to see where I was hitting. Got a good group and moved on to the lucite. See the attached images.
Then I started shooting the Lucite, .. The wind drove my shot down a few inches, and it hit the dirt. Inadvertantly this setup my best shot to date. Now the lucite disk was on its side 1-2" visible. My spotter could see, it I barely could. I decided to go for it. I gave myself 5 shots. (Then we were going to bail and go to 1k) I got it on the 4th shot. At that point I decided I was done at that range.
Lucky, likely. But I did hit the ground just under it... so Id say not too bad for a civilian
