6mm creedmoor barrel length

What is end use?

30" for F-class won't hurt you any.

26" for tactical would be reasonable compromise.

Personally I wouldn't go shorter then 24" but I'm in the high desert. I'll take the extra fps of longer barrel as 90+% of the time I'll be in open space vs. timber/brush.

Strictly target and competition.. it has heavy varmint..
It will be on aics 2.0 stock.. 27"? Tactical and maybe f class.. make sense?

I am getting right around 3100 from my 24" Krieger with about 42 gr of 4350 with 105s. Don't have the exact figures w/ me right now, but that's a close estimate...

For F-Class run the barrel long. Take the velocity you can get out of it. For tactical run it shorter as it will be more handy.

My 6 Creedmoor is finished at 23". With 105gr. bullets and 42.0 of H4350 I"m getting 3018fps.

So this 42.2grs H4350 I shot on sunday would be coming 3175 out of my 28" Bart? 30fps per inch?

It's possible. What the barrel is chambered in (case capacity) will have an impact on on what you get per inch for velocity. As an example a 6mm BR after 28" it only gets on avg. 8fps. per inch gain.

A good round number is 25fps per inch to go with.

Bjay, Id stay away from that tight of neck for your 6 Creed, you may have to "turn" your necks to get them to chamber properly, 274 neck should be good, the Hornady brass when loaded has a 272 neck. Id like to try some 115 DTACs in my 6 Creed, the 8 twist will handle them, but whatever shoots best is what id use, wink.

Just spoke with John, Chads chambering guy, he said what I thought he'd say, your buddy might have to neck turn his brass, unless he goes with Win or rem 22-250 brass, My Rem 22-250 brass has a loaded dimension of .267, then you have more slop in the chamber then you really need or want, your buddy could always learn to turn necks, I dont think it's that hard. If nothing else, you could try shooting it the way it is, if he has issues then have him turn the necks a couple thousands down to a neck diameter of 271(loaded). Lots of vids on youtube to watch on the subject.

No I didnt ask him but Chad likes to get the rifles out in days not weeks like some other "smiths", once he started on my first 6 Creed it was done in 10 days if I remember correctly, the paint took the longest, everything else was done in 2-3 days.
