Morning, Guys . . .

Any pros and cons on Viper Skins? Mostly if any of you have had any issues.

Planning on getting a set with the new stock model.

The only negative is that you can not access the action screws with them on like you can with the original AICS skins. If you have a trigger go down or a bolt release hang up, you need to remove a number of little allen bolts to get action out of the chassis. Other than that, I love the build quality, ergonomics and great customer service that Victor provides.

The only problem I have with them, small support area for rear bag, has already been solved with the V2 rear skins.

As has been stated already in post #2, that's really it. The Pros on the other hand far exceed that Con and Michael (the owner) has superb customer service. The viperskins make it feel like a completely different and more comfortable gun to be behind.

I have them on an A.I. A.E. 1.5 and they are a tremendous improvement. It allows the proper grip/trigger finger relationship that I couldn't achieve with the A.I. thumbhole stock and my big hands. I got the XLarge grip insert-perfect and the grippy rubber cheek piece. 150% improvement and as tough as the original skins.

Thanks, guys. I used to shoot the Winchester 52-D's and the Anschutz Super-Matches and always loved a thumbhole grip. Given that the AICS has a latterally adujstable cheek piece, I think I'm really going to like the setup.

I've always liked a thumb hole stock and I really quite liked the AICS thumbhole stock. However I wanted the chance to see if I'd like the pistol grip more so I ordered the Viperskins. I thought that having both would allow me to switch back and forth and see what I liked best. After running both and doing dry fire routines I've taken the original AICS stock sides and they are in the viperskins bags and stored away for if I ever want to sell the original AICS stock. I figure if I ever buy and AIAE I'll be moving the Viperskins sides over to the AIAE and then I'll have a pretty much brand new looking AICS to sell...

Anyway if you're looking to put the viperskins on a new AICS there isn't a set of skins yet to do that. You need to get some AIAE skins and then modify the bolt cut out by hand. Or just wait and Victor Company is working on putting out a set of viperskins for the new AICS system without the big square around the bolt cutout. If you want more information on the modification needed to mount the AIAE skins on a new AICS platform you can see a lot of info and pictures on it in this thread: http://www.snipershide.com/shooting...quipment/193524-aics-1-5-conversion-asap.html

Make sure ya order with the V2 rear skins (Victor Company USA). They allow for more space to put a rear bag and also allow for the Accushot monopod to go onto the rifle with no permanent modification. Putting the Accutshot monopod onto the new AICS platform directly from AICS isn't possible any more with out having to purchase an extra module from B&T and you also have to cut your original stock sides. You can read about the module that allows use of the monopod with the old skins here: Accu-Shot Product Catalog – Monopods – Bipods - Accessories. So if you want to use the viper skins and you get the V2 skins this saves you 45 bucks on the cost of the viper skins.

Michael Victor of Victor company is a shooter first and a company guy second! He understands getting stuff done at the last minute before a match. He understands supporting shooters and has top notch customer service. I can't say enough good about them. Also I really like the grippy cheek rest. You don't lose any of the adjustments that come on the AICS original platform but you get a nicer softer feel. This combined with the nice soft grip piece makes sitting behind the rifle for long periods of time a lot more comfortable. So far I've only stayed behind it for about 2 and a half hours at a single time. But after this weekend I'll have about 12 hours of time behind the rifle in 2 days. I'm figuring about 9 to 10 hours a day with a few breaks and lunch taken out is about all the time I'll spend off of the rifle. After that I'll have a lot more formed of an opinion on the platform but I've already done a lot of practice with it. I'm about to have the Victor Company QD sling attachments on mine here soon too based on P03's recommendations. I have a feeling I'll not regret that either. One time of having the HK hook come loose on its own would have really ticked me off! ;)

So, are you saying the the most current Viper Skins for the AICS aren't 100% compatible with the most current AICS chassis?

If you have the most recent AICS chassis that doesn't have the square opening around the bolt handle, then you have to use the AE skins and modify them with a file so the bolt seats all the way down. It's not a hard mod, it's just a bit of filing/dremeling. With that said, Michael is already working on a new skin for those who have the new chassis and it should be out shortly. Again, I highly recommend the Viperskins.

You'll be happy. After spending a good number of hours behind mine over the last two days I'm very happy!

Can't recommend them enough, Mike is a great guy and puts out a awesome product i have a set on my work gun. Very well thought out part

Well, I'll be ordering my chassis at the last of July. Guess I'll just have to wait to see what I end up with and what I'll need to do.

For those that maybe have transitioned from a lot of the vertical grip McMillans, etc., do you feel it is just as comfortable to use the viperskins in the same way as far as fire control hand position?

Basically instead of wrapping your thumb around, laying it in the thumb grove?

I have a question
I have a like new set of factory 2.0 Black skins
any idea if anyone would be interested in buying them?
If so.....What would I ask?
Perfect condition!
