I am needing another scope and the wife is bitching that I spent too much money lately. What are some cheaper options for a 2.5-10 scope? It has to be sfp and have moa turrets with a matching reticle. The only thing I see that has my interest is a Vortex but wanted to make sure before I bought something.

I have the 2.5-10x44 Vortex on the ole ladies hunt gun and man is it clear!!!! tracks good too...

What are u going to be using the gun for?

It's going to get switched between an ar that is for target practice and will be on my 5r in the winter for a deer and coyote hunting.

If you can live with a 3.5-10 I'd recommend a Sightron S3, great glass and turrets for the money.

A used Nightforce

That's the route I would like to go but just out of the budget right now. I been looking at the one you have in the classified, it's the exact model I want.

The Vortex SFP 2.5-10x44 would work and are okay for the money. The new 32mm reportedly has much better glass but is only in FFP. The Sightron SIII mentioned by Scudzuki has excellent glass, and sfp moa/moa illuminated for $758 Sightron SIII 3.5-10x44mm Rifle Scope FREE S&H 25125, 25130, 25124. Sightron Rifle Scopes. That'd get my vote for sure.

I've owned all three of those. Thought the SFP PST x44 had pretty mediocre glass, bad enough I didn't keep it. The 2.5-10x32mm FFP Viper PST has great glass, really great, and would be my all purpose pick. I also like the SIII 3.5-10x44 quite well. It has a very flexible eye position and, with the objective size, a much larger exit pupil than the x32mm PST. Both of those are great scopes and I'd basically choose based on whether you want FFP or SFP, reticle preference, and whether you like a slightly smaller/lighter scope or a significantly larger exit pupil.

If you don't need illumination, the SS 3-9x42mm is also a nice scope in the same ballpark, for slightly less money.

You know you waaaaaaaaaaaant it :)

Cry once, buy once.

There's no doubt I would like to have it and you don't have to convince me with the buy once, cry once. It's the wife that needs convincing :) I am trying to sell my snap on roll cart to a guy locally right now so I can get it, I think I'm tool box poor lol

Just tell her you're actually SAVING money by buying it. It's on SALE and its better to buy this now than a cheap one that will break and then you'll have to buy another one.

Use the tactics they use when buying shoes and purses on her!

I bought her a new vacuum thinking I could use that but it hasn't worked yet and she doesn't need anymore jewelry lol. I had to buy a necklace that cost more than her wedding ring so I could get my AI earlier this year lol. I can't complain though, she's pretty good to me.

I went with the Vortex 2.5-10x32, couldn't be happier!

I have never looked through a ffp scope before so I am hesitant to buy that model but I haven't heard anything bad about it yet.

I hate spending money on stuff sight unseen too. But for most tactical type shooting situations, a lot of guys (including me), say once you go to FFP, you won't wanna go back. SFP does have the advantage of a thinner reticle at high power for very long range shooting and a thicker reticle at low power for low-light visibility. This of course is the trade off between reticle thickness vs. mil scale values being accurate at all powers. Again, (for me) unless lowlight hunting or ultra long range shooting, FFP has the advantage.

I personally think though, the FFP/SFP isn't really much of an issue in scopes under 12x. Get get best glass/ruggedness/tracking/warranty.

I'm really leaning towards the vortex in the FFP, I figure if I don't like it than I can sell it on here and not lose too much money.

Not offering any help here, just wanted to comment on your dilemma. My wife told me I needed to build another rifle.

Try it. You will most likely like it and like you said you will have no problem selling it.

The only downside I see going that route is that I will really like FFP and want to swap all my scopes to that lol.

LOL I was going to mention that but didn't want to ruin your Saturday ;)

I know how it works and that is one of the reasons I'm hesitant on buying that scope lol.

I too have the Vortex 2.5-10x32, and in my opinion it is the finest yet in the PST series. Outstanding glass. Light. Compact. The only possible downside is that reticle does get a little small on 2.5... I would have liked to see that stadia a little tighter, but I've missed enough wind holds using SFP scopes I'll never go back. Hard to beat at that price.

Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10x32 FFP EBR-1 MOA (They are FFP) I will say these are nice than the 44mm.
Vortex Viper PST 2.5–10x44 Riflescope with EBR-1 MOA Reticle (SFP)

Leupold 115370 Mark AR MOD 1 3-9x40mm P5 Matte FireDot TMR is anther great scope.

We stock all the above so if we can be of help let me know.

I got one of the first vortex 2.5-10x32, under serial number 100, and have been using it for about 6 months. It is an awesome little scope. I have not had that "I need to replace this scope" feel of disappointment yet. Really just the opposite. I'm glad they made the scope and that I bought one.

A big bonus is how light it is compared to a lot of scopes with similar features.

If you get it I think you will be happy with the purchase.

I would write the same review of mine.

I bought a Vortex PST 2.5-10 FFP after hearing all the good things everyone said about it. It showed up on Tuesday and looks like it's a nice scope, I am getting it mounted tomorrow so I can give it a try. Not crazy about how small the reticle is on 2.5, it might be hard to see when hunting but other than that it looks like a nice scope for the money.

Crank on the illumination, at 2.5x it will be similar to shooting a red dot.

WE took it out today and sighted it in, pretty happy with it so far. The wife loves it and I think I'm going to like it after shooting some more with it.

2.5-10x44 is pretty damn good. Cheaper than the x32, if you don't need the FFP.
