Re: Thunder Valley Precision - Ohio 2012 Schedule

My guess is it's not posted because TVP lost power and internet Friday night with the storm that come through. Tom said it might be a couple more days before he has power again.

There were only 2 of us today for the Intimidator. Too hot for the rest of you?

Re: Thunder Valley Precision - Ohio 2012 Schedule

Good shooting with you Mike.

Only two people? that must've been different.

Me and Matt are looking to make it up this weekend, and not to be bothersome but any idea whats happening this weekend?

Re: Thunder Valley Precision - Ohio 2012 Schedule

Bob and I got a chance to verify and correct dope. My numbers were right mostly right on. Only needed to adjust on 2 targets. Bob discovered his data from this spring changed 2-4 moa. I was very happy with the new load I'm running and how it performed.

Re: Thunder Valley Precision - Ohio 2012 Schedule

If I can get someone to feed/water/shit my dogs Friday the 13th, PSmith and I will be out for the day/night HH and Intimidator.

My understanding is Tom will rent out a can. Is this correct? I've got 5/8-24 threads and a 284Win. Anyone know if he can accommodate?

I know he used to offer that, but no idea if it's still an option. I'm thinking it was $50/day. Calling him would be your best bet.

Re: Thunder Valley Precision - Ohio 2012 Schedule

A few pics from last weekends paper match. I left early so I dont have all the details but I seen a 1000yd target that was 3.6" and scored 50 w/ 3X's But the one I liked better is the one in the picture.

Its not the same shoot, its just on the same day. Normal pricing for each shoot still applies.

3 shots max per target. First round hit, 10 pts. Second round hit, 5 pts. Third round hit, 2 points. You shoot at the target until you hit it or have taken 3 shots.

Re: Thunder Valley Precision - Ohio 2012 Schedule

I always take a minimum of 51. You just never know when you're going to find a ring or base screw has come loose.

Make sure you take plenty of extras as well. Its nice to go back up to position one after the shoot to get some dope you can feel confident with. Don't feel too bad if position one hands you your a$$ the first time.

Do you shoot in pairs, spotter shooter then switch?

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: Shooterken</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Do you shoot in pairs, spotter shooter then switch? </div></div>

Two shooters lay down at each position. The first shooter (on the left) engages the target making corrections based on his spotters (shooting partner) calls. There will be a guy in a spotting scope that will verify hits or misses only. Once the first shooter hits the target or take 3 shots, his partner engages the same target. Once the target has been hit by each team member, you engage the second target and so on.

The guy in the spotting scope is not allowed to give corrections to the active shooter. You also have a time factor in place. Both shooters have a total of 8 minutes to engage 4 targets on each station. If you have enough time left on station one, you can engage the bonus target at 1650 yds. It's a HOOT!

Re: Thunder Valley Precision - Ohio 2012 Schedule

Position 1 has owned me out there since day one. That first shot is hard enough and it doesn't get easier from there.

Bob we should have topped that tree that's blocking the 1165 target from the peg. Didn't think of that until I was most of the way home Sunday. Must have been the heat.

Trick to the first target at 565 (if youve got a 308) is to dope it for ~530 or so. Error on the low side. There is always an updraft effect, and a high miss will sail into the valley below, yielding a "no call" from your spotter.

While I have not noticed the updraft effect a miss left or right has the same issue on that target as a high miss. A low miss gives you a chance to see if your wind call is any good.

I have hit with my 1st shot the last 2 times I was up there. I believe I found a load my rifle really likes. However, in my opinion, position 1 is without a doubt the hardest stage of the Intimidator.

Hmm. Wonder if that was one of Joel Russo's creations.

Re: Thunder Valley Precision - Ohio 2012 Schedule

Boys, it was fun today. We had 6. Merrit and I beat the Wonder Kids from PA in a very close match on the last stage. Thanks for the wind calls Merrit.

Personally, I went through a gallon of water. There was enough breeze to make it somewhat bearable and to make the shots interesting. It was friggin hot!

Re: Thunder Valley Precision - Ohio 2012 Schedule

I had a good time yesterday. hot but still a good day.

Merrit, Matt said you took a picture of the score sheet? could you either post it or send me a copy?

Sorry for the delay, my wife got home with my daughter from their family vacation last night and I turned 30 today so didn't have much time to post.

Thanks,
