I am not Dennis, but am also looking for Loads That Work . I am wanting to run 105 and 115gr Bergers in a 7.5twist Bartlein. I've a variety of powders available (H4350, Re 15, Varget, Re 17) with more just a 10 minute drive to the funstore away. For primers, I have CCI 450s, Remington 7 1/2s and a buttload of Federal Gold Medals. Lapua brass is being necked down in a Forster FL die until it just enters the chamber with slight resistance. Chamber was throated specifically for the 105's, so that is what I am starting with.

Suggest away......

Re: 6x47 load info

Revisit.

I've not had much luck with powders in the H4350 range with the 105's, thus far. I did have one group that showed promise with Reloader 15 and the 105's, and I will revisit that load again. I stepped up to 115gr bullets in this rifle for the first time this last weekend, ran 15 rounds through it with 38, 38.5, and 39 gr of Reloader 17 (these are probably getting warm, so work up...). Now, I'm not going to win any benchrest matches with these groups, but for this rifle so far these are the most consistant loads I've tried. Both 38 and 39grs were under one inch (.932 and .788), and 38.5 nearly squeaked up on 1/2 inch (.522). I will definitely be retrying these again in the near future.

I think that as I get more experienced with this cartridge/rifle/trigger/scope combo, I'll improve on that. I am still disappointed by the 105's though (most groups are running 1-1 1/4 inches). Seems I have 1100 of those in the basement and only 485 of the 115's left......Plenty of room to learn, I guess.

Thanks, but this is for the 6x47L, based off the 6.5x47 Lapua case, not the 6x47 (off the .222 remington magnum) or the 6x45 (off the .223 remington. Totally different animal......

Re: 6x47 load info

Is anyone running IMR 4350 with their loads? I'm shooting an 8 twist barrel in my 6x47 Lapua. The load that came with the rifle uses 40.5 gr H4350 /CCI450/107 MK. It shoots well, but I've got about 6 lbs of IMR 4350 I'd like to use if possible. I also have a box of 115 DTACS and some RL17 that I am going use to put some test loads together. Thoughts?

Re: 6x47 load info

Mine loves:

115 Berger
35 gr Reloder 17
WSR
Bullet kissing lands

Consistant .1-.2 load with some zero's when I do my best. Shot my best group ever with this load/rifle combo.

Re: 6x47 load info

I am running 39grains of h4350 a 107smk and cci450 lapua brass. The gun is a stoll panda, bartlin 8twt barrels.

Re: 6x47 load info

I'm using 40.5gn N160 with a 105 Berger Hunting VLD and CCI 450 primers.
This is out of a 30" Pacnor 8 twist barrel and gives 3090fps.
I have had some luck and good velocities with reloader 17 but the weren't quite as accurate as N160.

Re: 6x47 load info

Looking for high-performance loads for 6x47L using 115-grain DTAC bullets and RL17 powder. Barrel is 26" 7.7 twist Bartlein 5R. Thanks in advance

Re: 6x47 load info

Running 39.5 grains h4350 out of 23" shilen 8-twist with 105 amax. Getting 2965 w low teens ES. Have gotten 1/2 moa out to 600 and tight vertical out to 950. Variable wind at 950 really opened up groups.

Re: 6x47 load info

BLK7, thanks for the post!

Still looking for load info from folks running RL17 and XBR powders in this cartridge.

Re: 6x47 load info

im running a 25" bartlein 7.7 twist shooting the 105 A-max on top of 40 gr H4350 CCI BR4. not sure on speed the chrono was not wanting to work but it seems to be accurate. going to load up some with RL17 this week

Re: 6x47 load info

26" Schneider,7.5 twist. Throated .120" specifically for 115's. Baring surface well above neck shoulder junction. .270" neck. 1.5 thou neck tension. CCI 450 primers.

#1 38.8/summer 39/winter grains R-17,3050 fps/115 DTACS.

#2 39.2 grains N-160,3030 fps/Berger 115

#3 41.8 grains H-4831,3025 fps/115 DTACS,lowest ES,best load
density,hopefully best throat/barrel life.

I tried H-1000.No go.Not enough velocity and very poor ES.

Re: 6x47 load info

steve123,

That ^ is great specific information. Very useful, thank you!

Myself and one of my shooting pards -- same barrel/reamer/components -- have tried RL17, IMR 8208 XBR and H4350.

So far, only the H4350 with 105 Berger VLDs has returned acceptable results, both on paper and with regard to velocity and pressure signs. Still need to goose the velocity a tad.

We'll have to give H4831 a try. Also trying to get ahold of the new Berger 105 hybrids.

Will report back with specifics after more testing.

Re: 6x47 load info

I settled on:
105 Berger Hybrids
41 gr H4350
CCI 450
Bullet Seated .0300 off
3100 FPS

My shooting partner is shooting all the above, but he settled on 41.6 grs to run the same velocity and accuracy

Re: 6x47 load info

Just worked up this load..

105 Hybrid, .025 off the lands
39.8gr H4350
28" Kreiger 8tw
CCI BR4
3070fps

Re: 6x47 load info

Just an update,
Had another 6-47 built on a HOWA action using the same reamer.

Same load as above.
105 hybrids .0300 off
41 gr h4350
Cci small rifle mag primers
3100 fps

First load shot the smallest group of my life!

H4350 38.7 grains cci small rifle primers 103 gr Clay Spencer bullets ,Lapua Brass .010 off

Lapua Brass
115DTAC .010" off lands
39.5 H4350
CCI450s
3020 via 27" Brux

Lapua brass
107SMK .010" off lands
38.5 H4350
CCI450s
2975 via 23.5" Bartlien

I'm getting ready to start loading for this.

It's my first cartridge to involve resizing.

Any tips?

I got some load data from Wade to get me started. He says "About 34 grains of varget or 38 grains of 4350 work well with 105 hybrids. Once a barrel is broken in I usually shoot both for verticle at 1100+ yards and go with the best."

i was using a much lighter bullet but i was using 34.5 gr varget with 70 gr nosler varmint bullets

My prone rifle I'm running 115 Berger VLD's. With 39.0gr. of H4350 the velocities are averaging 3030fps. with extreme spreads and SD's in the single digits. Gun will shoot in the flat .2xx's at a 100 yards and will hold sub 1/3moa at a 1k. Barrel is 30" finish length med. palma and the twist is 1-7.5. Bullets are seated .010" off the lands.

The shops F-Class gun is a 1-8 twist barrel and shooting mostly 107 Sierra's thru that. I've shot 39.0 to 40.0 of H4350 and highest velocity was like 3100fps. with the 40.0 charge. Barrel is HV contour at 30" finish length. We run the gun at 39.0 for an everyday load. I have loaded Varget and gun shot just as good accuracy wise with that load and if I remember correctly it was around 36.0 or 36.5gr. of powder. Gun routinely shoots around 1/4-1/3 moa range.

Both barrels are 5R style rifling and .237 bores.

With 196rds on the barrel shot the above load at local steel match. Shooting .2 MILS high at 500 meters. Chrono'd 5rds of that load the next day, 3155, 3/4" group, high ES. Reduced the load to try to get back to 3080 or so, couldn't get it to shoot as well as it did at first. Loaded 3rd increments 34-36 grains of Varget/CCI 400. 34.6,34.8,35 shot well. Pressure at 35.8/stiff bolt. Loaded up 10 of the 34.8, 3050/ES 15/SD 6. The faster Varget and the milder CCI 400 looks to be a good combo on my settled barrel.

Ive had great luck with H4350, but some of my most consistent loads came from 35.7-36.0 grns of Varget with the 105 Hybrid out of my Beanland built rifle.

Jcallan,

Cheers mate. I tryed 33.5-35.5gr Varget behind 88gr Bergers the other day with federal 205 match and has very big groups with the groups above 34gr of powder. Some rounds just went like 4" apart. 33.5 and 34 was around the 1.5-2" mark but rest was crazy. I have heard of people having ignition issues. Maybe I should try H4350 but I will just wait until I get some CCI450 to try the 88gr again with Varget.

For the 105's it took 39.4 grns of H4350 to get same velocity as the Varget load but still single digit ES's. The 88's may take some tweaking.

Jcallan,

Cheers mate. I'm getting more CCI-450 this week so I will try the 88gr again with Varget and I will try some 107gr SMK aswell. What was the pressure like with that much Varget?

I observed no pressure signs, brass looked great and ejected normal. Temp was 101 degrees with density altitude sitting around 3700ft

I'd forgot about this post till now.

A month ago I pulled this last barrel at 3200 rounds. At about 2700 rounds I ended up having to up the charge of H-4831 to 42.2 grains to get the velocity back to 3000 fps with the DTACS.

My new load with the new 30" 8 twist Krieger is 43.1 grains of H-4831SC behind Berger 105 hybrids for 3130 fps.

I've been doing some testing with my 6x47L with hybrids, is everyone jumping them? Ive only tested 10thou jam and 15 thou jump but nothing stellar from it. Do I need to goto 20thou or even 40thou?

I read somewhere on these forums to jump atleast 20

I started at .025 jump and never looked back. As my chamber has moved a bit, I bet I'm jumping .035 or more now after 1800ish rounds through my barrel..
