Out of windage

Like the title says, I'm out of windage (almost, I actually have 1.2 mils to the right. I CAN get to 1.4 but it bottoms out as the turret falls into the click setting). Rifle is a POF 415, optic is a USO SR-8 in an ADM Recon mount. I originally had it in a Recon SL and just peeping down the bore trying to get a half ass zero it did the same thing, so I called USO and sent it in. About a week later they sent it back with the reticle re-centered. I traded the SL for the regular Recon trying to get it more farther back on the receiver. No change. I've actually never dropped this rifle so I don't think anything is tweaked or twisted, I also had a NF 3.5-15 in a LaRue before with no problems. I have one of them high speed Christmas tree reticles to do holdovers, but it's still irritating as fuck. Anybody have any ideas what's fuckered up?

A google search of "pof 415 windage" brings up numerous threads on various forums with the same problem. I didn't read them to check their content, maybe you should tho.

Your previous scope and mount did you check windage travel in both directions after zeroing? May very we'll be with the NF you didn't notice the problem if it has significantly more travel than your current optic (which I don't know the stats on) as after zeroing a couple turns in both directions was all the NF ever got? If this is the case possibly a bent barrel. Maybe not fitted square as well.

Sorry to go worse case straight up but it's possible.

Also an option is your rail ain't straight.

If you have access to a known good scope and mount you could swap em out and see if it wants 3 bazillion clicks to get windage close as well. All the Scopes I've ever swapped between rifles have always printed on paper straight up once putting one into the mound and adjusting elevation for different canted bases.
Just throwing ideas out there.

PS. How's your follow through? Your not curving the bullet around corners are you? It is possible. Saw it in a documentary once called "WANTED". Hosted by Angelina Jolie iirc :)

Ha. Never seen it. I aint much of a ninja neither. I've tried the google search, but it doesn't turn anything up for me. I never did check windage on the NF, but I suppose it is possible.

Ever think that the problem isn't the optics?

I had an issue with an AR-15 right from the factory new box...ran out of windage on the rear iron sight and still couldn't get it on target at 25m. Contacted the manufacture and sent it back - the issue was the barrel needing reindexed. They did the work under warranty and shipped it back to me and it shoots like a house on fire now...windage is only 3 clicks from dead-center now too.

My only question for you right now is how does the gun shoot with iron sights? Try a battle zero...

I never thought it was optics. I sent it back to USO for piece of mind before I started cussing the gun. That's why it's in semi auto instead of optics. Something is out of square. I bought this used so warranty on the rifle is probably not going to happen.

Ahh sorry - first post lead me to believe you assumed it was the optic. I'd still locate some irons to stick on it to see what happens. Did these symptoms just start or was it from day one? Might have to invest in an armorer's tool and investigate.

You're right on the warranty (they'll probably still do the work and charge you armorer fees though), only good for three years to the original purchaser. POF-USA | Terms

As for trouble shooting, break out a set of irons and bench the sucker to bore sight it. That should give you a good indicator of what's going on with the rifle itself. It's possible you can simply remove and reinstall the barrel if it's off kilter somehow, and that will be your fix. That is if you want to do the work yourself...

Dude, I don't pay for shit. I do everything myself that I can. I had irons under an eotech and I don't remember them being an issue. YHM flip-up BUIS.
How much slop is in these barrels that you can change poi by removing and re-installing the barrel?

I ran into this recently when mounting a Vortex PST for a buddy on his Rem 700. The windage was so far off, it wasn't fixable. We swapped the rail, remounted the scope, and right off the bat, it was perfect.

One issue could be the barrel is over indexed. If the barrel nut is over tightened the steel barrel index pin will enlarge the U shaped notch in the aluminum upper receiver that the barrel nut threads onto. I am not sure about the scope, but iron sights will go all the way over left or right and wont co witness very well. IF and again IF that's the problem you may need another upper receiver.
