who makes a good brass catcher. I am going to shoot in a comp next weekend and they require semi auto guys to have a catcher.

they all look the same more or less. does one brand work better than others? i'm just worried about jamming with it.

I made one for my wife, and it is similar to one that I saw online---it is a box type. I have seen some mesh type ones that look good also. I doubt you will have many problems with jamming because of the use of one. Others can give input here, but we have run several hundred into ours, and there were no problems. The only thing you might want to check is that the opening of the catcher matches the exit of the gun, and that the backing is resilient enough to allow the brass to fully enter, and not bounce back at the rifle.

Tactical Brass Recovery

I just got one of the long frame throw lever mount versions and it works well. I had it on my MWS and out of 80 rds 2 didn't go in somehow. My only complaint is that I noticed more gas in my face, I was running suppressed though.

Since I hand load I had started using brass catchers almost from the beginning. Having tried almost everything out there these are the best I've used.

The UTG and similar products work great, I have 3 and they are easy to adjust and don't interfere at all. I'm ordering another 2 today from Midway, they are on sale.

Check out LonewoldUSMC's youtube channel. He did a review for one that he liked (there's also a review of one he didn't like). Iirc, it was around $60 and what I plan on using. Fixes to the top rail on the handguard.

Tactical Brass Recovery are the best I found .Most mounting options of them all and Lew the owner bend over backwards to help me with mounting one on a weapon they don't make a mount for(sent me parts N/C). Buy one and don't look back.

I own two of these too. and they work awesome. way worth the money. only thing is your gun has to have a side rail to mount it on. my OBR is a no go. But I highly recomend this one!

How much bulk and distraction do these add?
DSArms
bulk: around the volume of a 50 .308 hulls bag
distraction: nothing, in my fun-only/no-comp. experience

for sure better than searchin'around for your spent cases, after_
in case of rifle malfunction, fast to remove&replace_
(proper rail required)

I have a couple of the UTG brass catchers, they work great, super light weight, attach to all kinds of HG and very inexpensive too.

Another Tactical Brass fan. I have had mine for a couple of years and swap it from rifle to rifle. Even if you have a smooth rail you can usually mount a small picitinny rail on the side to make it work. It's worth every penny.

Tactical Brass Recovery makes a version that you can mount the catcher to your top rail, that should work with your OBR.

I really like the fact that you are able to quickly and easily gain access to the ejection port without removing the catcher should the need arise.

I own two and am about to order another, they're good to go!
