I was just reloading my once fired (by me) hornady brass and after I did all the steps i went to install the new primer............It wouldnt go in. So after a detailed inspection. I noticed that the primer hole didnt look right. When i popped out the old primer it left a brass ring on the inside that made it so i couldnt put in a new primer........What do i do now?

I'm going through the very same thing with some Hornady Match .308 brass. What I have done was I chamfered the primer pocket with my chamfer tool. You have to get a good chamfer on it though. There is another thread on this as well and I'll try to find it and post up a link.
I dont have a pic on me. And they were Hornady .308 match grade BTHP's. Sucks cause i have like 500 of them. What do i ream the hole too?
I've got 4 boxes of Hornady Match. Shot it all up, went to reload it, and bam, they will NOT take primers without first doing some minor pocket chamfering. A bit of a chamfer and they take primers fine. Kinda sucks really. I've never had Hornady do that with any other brass except that .308 brass.
Hornady started crimping the primer pockets on their Superformance loads and some others I believe. What ammo did this brass come from? You just need to remove the crimp either by reaming or swaging as mentioned. Just like military brass.
I'm not sure if you are seeing the primer crimp or the wall of the primer. I've had some Hornady brass (and others too, it's not just Hornady) leave the wall of the primer in the case but pop the primer cap off when I've deprimed it. You can use a drill bit to get it out but it's a pain in the rear and most of the time, the drill point will drill into the primer pocket.

My 168 hornady match ammo was like that. If u looked at the old primers they were probably domed from being pushed out. As everyone said use a 45* deburr tool to chamfer the pocket. I knew there was an issue when my Sinclair PP uniformer would go in with out effort . A vld deburrer will not work, bottoms out before the cutter gets to the crimped lip. Mine cleaned up easier then LC brass, u just need a little taken off. If u get crazy on them it will cause less hold for the primer . That means short brass life due to pockets not holding primers
That is a terrible thing for Hornady to do. You need to dispose of that brass, send it to me. I will properly dispose of it for you.
I quit buying Hornady products years ago. I pointed out several quality issues to them with their equipment and bullets and the response was essentially - go pound sand. Thank you very much Hornady Customer Service, I quit buying their products and purged everything Hornady from my reloading bench.
Same problem I had with 22-250 & 308 Hornady brass. The 22-250 went in the trash and sold the 308. I dont buy or shoot anything Hornady now
