Quick question for you guys, does the fact that it only goes down to 2lbs make it less desirable? I mean is 2lbs low enough for you guys and do you feel like you are at a disadvantage with it? Also how do you like everything else about it as well? Thanks guys!

It works for me.

But I have a Timney in my 700 also, so it is nice both feel the same.

I've never tried a set trigger, I would really like to! But I have a feeling the way those things are being talked about they are going to be near impossible to find!

I'm willing to wait for the set trigger to be available.
The stock 455 trigger isn't going to interfere with my ability to put a few squirrels or rabbits on the dinner table,
while I'm waiting for CZ to ship a few set triggers to the U.S. It was easy enough to clean up the the stock trigger
surfaces and get the pull weight down to a carry safe 3.5 lbs. What I like about the set trigger, is that in standard pull
it can be adjusted down to 3.5 lbs and using the set trigger on the bench, the break comes at a scary sweet 10 ounces.
The set trigger will allow both a carry safe pull for hunting and a "look at it wrong it'll go off" bench pull.
Important for me as when I hunt, I'm not taking extreme shots. It's when I'm on the bench
that I'm pushing the limits of my abilities, and the set trigger fits that type of usage very well.
Besides, that price of 60 bucks is a good deal. Worth waiting for, eh?

That is pretty a convincing argument! But for this build I am wanting an aftermarket 455 trigger that will always be readily available! However if I ever do find the set trigger for sale, I am going to have to give one a try!

My timney trigger has given me a bad taste in my mouth, atleast for now.

it was bought already installed on a used 455 and i tried to adjust pull weight and sear engagement. i dont know if the trigger had been already adjusted after the factory, but there was too much sear engagement in it. i found out that Timney sets the sear at the factory and your not supposed to touch that. i could not get a good reliable trigger any where near 2 pounds on my own and i was very disappointed. I think there is some tolerance play in the mechanism and it allows the sear to drop down when you start to get near 2 pounds and the bolt falls out. i took the gun to my smith friend (was taking it for threading anyway) and asked him to look into fixing it. he said all he could do was get it just below 2.5 pounds and that he got proper sear engagement and then played with the pull weight.

anyway, now the trigger feels like it breaks clean and crisp and it seems safe in the few times i have pulled the trigger on it (have not used any live ammo though it since being fixed). He told me he felt like the trigger took a lot to get it adjusted correctly and after both of us having worked on it quite a bit, i agreed with him.

Maybe i just had a bad trigger, maybe not. if CZ has a reasonably priced SST, i might give it a whirl. Unfortunately, my used gun did not come with the stock trigger group or else i would try a YoDave kit and see how well i could adjust it down. Can't seem to find a stock trigger anywhere so ill have to hold out for the set trigger. i have shot many old rifles with set triggers and love them.

I have a yodave kit set at about 1 lb with no creep. It is light and must be used with caution, but passes the drop test. The yodave kit comes with several springs and bushings to adjust it as desired. It had lighter springs, but I didn't want it any lighter.

I would have sent the trigger to Timney to have them check it out and adjust it.

Tell them the pull weight you want.

the yo dave is a great comprimise (for 20.00ish bucks) until the set trigger becomes available. my yo dave is pretty nice and simple, though i'd rather have the set trigger, best of both the hunting and target weights in one trigger, on demand. hopefully it will be as sweet as the 453 version, they should have maybe waited on the release of the 455 until the trigger was an option.

The Timney is hard to adjust if you're unfamiliar. No question about it. At a crisp 3.5 pounds, I have no issues with it.
I don't adjust any of my triggers lower than 3 pounds though. I'm not doing any bench rest shooting. I wouldn't feel safe with anything lower than 2 pounds with the types of shooting I do.
I've tried the yo Dave. It was a pain to set up but got fine results, for $20 not a bad option.

I put a Timney on my CZ455PT and set it to mimic its center fire big brothers that also sport Timneys. I love it, and it is of course a large improvement over the stock trigger. I have a CZ550 in 30-06 that has the set trigger. It is very nice but the purpose of the trainer is to train for my tactical rifles.

Edit: It's set at 2.5#, and I can't ask for anything better.

I appreciate the input on the trigger! I think this will definitely be going on the next 455!
