Ok, so I just reloaded some ammo for my 300rum using rl25 at 91.5gr with once shot remington scirocco brass. Shot one no problem. Second time I pulled this out... No beuno.. Anyone know what caused this and how can I prevent this in the future??

That was just the second firing of that brass? I don't have any exp. with the RUM but I wouldn't think that a case head would be toast after the first firing even if full length sized unless you have a very large chamber.

If I were you I would take a few pieces of brass from that same lot and cut them in half (long ways) and post pics up here for the guru's to look at.

I shoot a 300RUM with 97gr of RL-25 with 180 SST and can get 6 loads from brass with no problems. If I neck size I can get more. Not sure what you are up against for a fix. My guess would be to back the Size Die off a bit so the bolt just closes.

Quite a few threads about case head separations, which you had here. Take a paperclip, straighten it out, and file the end of it to a sharp point. Put a 90 degree bend in it about 1/8" from the pointed end, and then run that point on the inside of the brass lengthwise. You should find a groove inside the brass where it is starting to separate.

I would measure the chamber of the rifle, and measure the brass, and set the sizing die to just barely bump the shoulder no more than 0.002", after checking for an internal groove.

Thanks guys, I will get a neck gauge and start using it with all my guns. Never had this problem before...
