AICS stock style differences?

Hi I was directed here to ask this question. I was told this is THE place for this sort of inquiry. I'm very interested in picking up an AICS. But I am seeing two different stock styles. The first picture shows the style with a much deeper cut made into the stock near the butt and is also lacking the squared off piece where the bolt handle would be. I circled the the two areas I am referring to in red. The first picture shows the stock with the deeper cut and with the missing squared piece near the bolt handle: t5mo.jpg

This picture shows the shallower cut and with the squared piece around where the bolt handle would be: 4a8d.jpg

I like the look of the stock with the shallower cut and the squared piece where the bolt handle rests.

Does anyone know which stock the AICS is currently being manufactured with?

I have a second question. Is the long action chassis compatible with both .300 Win Mag and .338 Lapua?

Thanks for any help, it would be so very much appreciated!

Oh nuts. So they're no longer making the older style stock with the shallower thumb hook and the squared piece where the bolt handle is? Thanks for answering I wasn't expecting an answer so soon. Oh and for clarification the long action chassis is compatible with both .300 Win Mag and .338 Lapua? Thanks again. :)

contact mile high. the last generation are called the legacy chassis/skins. You should still be able to findthem. the 338 would benefit from the long Acton CIP chassis. there are some other members here that could better answer that for you

I believe the squared bolt cutout with the black insert is for Rem700 style flat bolts whereas the rounded notch is for AIAE pattern bolts

Also noticed in the pics is the spigot mount for the bipod. The AICS I purchase for a Rem clone has the large block cutout but yet it has the extended spigot mount.

I read somewhere once upon a time that there is a replacement that can be put in place of the extended mount.
