i'm in the market for a new case for my new creedmoor. I cant decide between a hard or soft case, i'm leaning towards a soft but anyways post up a pic of what you run to give me some ideas. make sure you let us know what make and model it is. thanks folks

Tell us the purpose your case will serve. either way you go, there's gonna be +/- to soft or hard for certain roles. Is it going to and from your house and to the range, will you be dragging it, what else do you want to have in your bag with your rifle, is it being shipped on a plane, and potentially being rough handled, etc...

For hard cases I doubt anything beats a pelican...

For soft, well there's a million out there for a million different purposes.

I have both, but use my soft case 15x more than my hard case. Tac Ops has a nice drag bag with shooting mat. You couls always go with a backpack style like a Gunslinger 2. Enough space to load anything you would ever need to go to the range or field with. J

I'm trying to decide too, and got to thinking about something. You guys with oversized bolt knobs that stick out further- any issues with soft cases? Do you pull the bolt to be safe? If so what do you do with it?

Mine are all in hard cases, be it boyts or pelican, all cut out nice and such and are very safe.
They suck to load in and out of the truck because they are heavy and awkward. There have been times when I didn't go to the range because I didn't want to load them and wished they were in soft cases. They require a big safe because I hate unloading them.
They are great when I have them all stacked in the back seat bouncing up back roads to go hunting or shooting the long range. There has been times when they have been strapped in the bed of standard cabs and gone to hell and back that I wouldn't have done if in soft bags. The scopes have never been off from getting smashed or dropped.

As stated, depends on what your doing with them.

I used a Galati bag/shooting mat combo for a while. It was roomy enough to hold a rifle, data book, rear bag, and a few extra rounds. Also had a couple of zipper pockets for smaller items build in. It was well built and used it pretty hard for a few years. The only thing I disliked was that using it as a mat attracted all kinds of sand and dirt that ended up inside with the rifle when I closed it. Seemed like I was always shaking it out or washing mud off of it. It was convenient to have it all in one if you shoot a lot of prone, however it was too short to fit a 20" boltgun in with suppressor attached. Maybe they make a longer one, not sure. Just ordered the Triad 52" Precision Rifle Carry Case, interested to see how I like it when it arrives.

i wrap my precious in bubble wrap i got from the local shipping store. I wrap it and then duct tape around it real tight when my precious comes out of the safe, it works well taking it to and fro one safe to the next. If i take it to the range I leave it wrapped and shoot it while inside the bubble wrap cacoon.

I love my Voodoo tactical rifle back. Well made with plenty of storage. Only had a few weeks but, I could not find a bad review. I Al's bought their mat to go along with it. I would not get a combo bag for the reason stated above. Don't want sand in my barrel!!

Do you have to complete a new form 1 when it has to be replaced? the wrap is expensive enough as it is!

If just for range trips then a good soft case like a drag bag will work. Just make sure it has the space for what you are taking to the range. There are many good drag bags on the market now. Tac Ops works great. I have one. Eberlestock makes an excellent one as well. Eberlestock E2B "Sniper Sled" Drag Bag

All depends on what you want to spend.

I have both as well I use my soft cases way more than hard if I'm just going to the range or out hunting or blasting steel in the hill I will take a a rifle in a soft case.

However if I am going to be flying and the like I will pack a hard case.
