It's spelled "Nagant".

Mounts: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=Mosin+mount

I'm trying this mount: http://www.amazon.com/Mosin-Nagant-...1363530872&sr=8-10&keywords=mosin+scope+mount

with this scope: http://www.amazon.com/Sports-2-7X42...id=1363530966&sr=8-2&keywords=mosin+aim+scope

and these rings: http://www.amazon.com/Millett-Alumi...8&qid=1363531051&sr=8-1&keywords=Millet+rings Choose 30mm, matte, low.

My experiences with my project, scope installation process on page 3: http://www.snipershide.com/shooting/showthread.php?t=116641&page=3&p=1685304

My project has its emphasis on "cheap" and "shooter". You can spend a lot more, but for the Mosin-Nagant, spending big bucks may not be so appropriate. I see my approach as putting together a "starter set". You can go big with more pricey LER/Pistol/Scout Rifle optics, but the ante rises proportionately.

Depending on what you want, you have options. Greg offered one way. You can also pick up an original PU scope and repro mount and rail for about $400. The question is, as I asked above, what do you plan to do with it. If you are just looking to have some fun, Greg's option is fantastic. If you plan to shoot in vintage matches, you need to take the more "original" approach.

My option keeps evolving. This time, I'm goin' for broke.

The system that's evolved so far is failing, it keeps working loose.

I gave my buddy a pair of very rugged high 30mm airgun rings, that mount directly to the barrel dovetail. He pinned the rings to the original sight pin holes. 50 rounds into the experiment, it's zeroed and holding zero.

My next iteration will involve a 2.75" long dovetail to Weaver mount adapter, and a pair of Burris Signature 40mm Zee rings. Not cheap (about $75), but this just may be the final answer.
