has anyone called hodgdon to ask WTF is going on with 4350 deliveries?

Billings, MT has some, have through the whole drought. With in the past week I've been able to pick up 1000 rounds of 22lr as well. Things seem to be coming around here.

Local stores just started stocking some powder (4350 included) in the past week. Hope this is turning around. Also some 22lr available, 9.95 per 100, but available.

I called them a couple of months ago and the nice lady (I forget her name) said they are producing more than ever, but the bottleneck was the import restrictions. Not normally a problem since demand is generally not so high, but with the current demand, the import restriction on explosives creates an artificial bottleneck. Don't know how accurate this is, but that's what she said...

Bingo. I just picked some up in Billings the other week. It was a new shipment, over at Shipton's Big "R" ranch supply. They were getting in quite a few powders, primers and such, so I think the reloading components are starting to trickle out now....

Christ all mighty, Ive got 6lbs, well, almost 6lbs sitting in my basement, bought these in the last 3 months, you guys are living in the wrong state.

Or some areas are heavy with avid shooters and reloaders and others are not hence the reason supply has been better in other areas. LOTS of shooters in my area so shit is gone in minutes and shelves are still pretty bare even at the big retailers that are normally power players.

From their facebook page....
Hodgdon Powder
March 4
Why can’t I find Hodgdon powders?
As you have seen, ammunition and reloading components – including all Hodgdon powders – are hard to find. Dealers shelves that used to hold cans of powder are empty. Here are answers to your questions straight from Hodgdon.

Q: Are you still making powders?
A: We are shipping more powder this year than we shipped last year. We are shipping as fast as the powder is available. The real problem why you are seeing empty shelves is demand. The demand for powder right now (and all ammunition and components) is far greater than the supply from the manufacturers. We just cannot make enough to feed this demand right now. No one wants to ship more during this time than we do.

Q: Are you still in business?
A: Yes, Hodgdon is here for the long haul. We are doing everything we can to supply our powders. Dealer’s shelves are empty because powders are being purchased as soon as they arrive at the Dealer’s stores.

Q: What is causing this high demand?
A: The current political climate can have the regulatory consequence of impacting law abiding, hard working shooters and hunters. This has caused extremely high demand on all shooting industry products resulting in empty shelves, long back-orders, and on-line auction sites asking exaggerated prices.

Q: I have seen/heard many rumors and conjecture on the cause of this powder shortage.
A: If you do not hear it from Hodgdon Powder Company please don’t believe it.

Q: Is the shortage of reloading powder being caused by Hodgdon shipping their powder to the ammunition manufacturing companies?
A: No. While we do sell to some ammunition manufacturing companies, we continue to sell over 80% of our powder to handloader’s just like you. Hodgdon has always been committed to the individual handloader.

Q: When will I start to see more powder on Dealer’s shelves?
A: This level of demand will not last forever. As soon as demand slows a little we will start making headway into our backlog.

Yep. In California it's hard to find anything; not so in Montana...

I live close to the major supplier for camp parry... The normally bring 5 pallets full of varget, 4350, and a few other big match powders....

The buy direct from hodgen...that haven't seen any for close to 6 months

I picked up a couple pounds in Omaha a couple months back, and they had quite a few pounds when I was visiting Cody, WY last month. It's available... sort of. The 8 pound jug I ordered from Brownells in December is still nowhere to be seen. Same for the H4198 - not a word since December.

Seeing some RL 17 & 19, some Hodgdon H414, BLC -2, little 4198 and stuff like that. No CFE 223, Varget or 4350. No 22 LR. Plenty of Berger, Nosler and Hornady premium bullets. Primers $42 per 1K. Primers go quick.

If that's true would it kill hodgen to actually build a factory(s) here so as not to deal with said bottleneck? I'm sure there are some states that would enjoy the added jobs/taxes that comes with that.

The local gun store had about 12 pounds of 4350 a couple weeks ago. I already have enough to shoot out the barrel in my .260 so I didn't buy anymore but I did pick up Varget. It was a pain with a 1lb limit but I sent some of my family in there so I could replenish what I have shot this summer. It seems like the supply is getting better or people are done hoarding.

I buy 3 pounds just about every time I hit up the shop here too...
