I've been looking at a set of the Trijicon HD sight for my Glock and have a question for anyone who owns them. I know that they can be had with either yellow or orange illuminescent paint on the front sight, but I cannot determine if the actual tritium lamps are a different color from the tritium lamps in the rear sights. I have am email into Trijicon but I figured I'd ask you guys to see if I could get an answer a little sooner.

Also, do you find the larger front sight along with the large rear notch have any cons? What's your overall opinion compared to normal Trijicon sights?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Yup, very fast pickup on the front sight. I have a set of HDs (orange) on a G17 and the color of the tritium is the same on all three dots. I really like the blacked out rear as well.

The tritium is the same color for all three dots. The orange and yellow surround of the front sight is phosphorescent, meaning it glows in the dark after being charged from a light source such as daylight, a flashlight, or whatever. The yellow is brighter, and lasts longer than the orange. Neither lasts all that long, like 8 to 12 minutes. If you have time to charge it before then using it in the dark for a critical use, then, that would be a miracle. Holstered in daylight, how much of a charge could it possibly pick up? Not so much. The whole phosphorescent thing is not that useful for night use. The orange and yellow surround are quick to pick up in day or dim light. The tritium is good.

Tritium is green in all 3, front post orange picks up any light really well. Fits the purpose I bought them for - quick target acquisition in the dark with blurry sleep eyes. Only downside is now I want them for my other Glock.
