Anybody seen the movie Mud? Stars Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, and Sam Shepard. Rented it last night and it was a very pleasant surprise. And, as an added bonus, one of these makes an appearance:

The wife and I watched it a couple of nights ago. Not bad, a little slow in some parts but overall enjoyed it. Def. can't beat it for 1.50 at the redbox, and the old marine is the best character in the movie.

I saw it listed on streaming amazon, thought if it's McConagay it was apass, but if you say its good may rent it

Supposed to be McConaughey's best performance from what i heard. A friend of mine watched it and said it was awesome.

Lincoln Lawyer is much better... Mud was good, but not as good as people make it out to be.

Forewarning: it is a character driven movie, so you might find it a bit slow in places.

Only people from certain parts of Arkansas will understand this, but I was happy to see Larry's Pizza make a cameo (the boy and his dad drive by it when they make their first delivery run in the movie). :)

At fist sight i thought it might have been filmed in MS. Character driven is no problem, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is probably my favorite movie of all time, people can't stand how slow it is.

Yeah, I'm with you there. I loved all the people complaining that Inglourious Basterds was too slow and had too much dialogue, but I absolutely loved the writing in that movie. The Godfather is another one, and Master and Commander. I think character driven movies are much more difficult to make: there's a fine line between brilliant dialogue and character development, and a boring-ass movie. However, a well executed character study is much more rewarding to me than a simple action movie.

Thought it was great, really hit home showing the river. McConaughey was really good so was Sam Shepard.

the kids friend made me feel like i was watching "Stand by me" the whole time, I give it a boner faced down due to not having any nekkid witherspoon action

I don't think so. All I know is that she looked bayuuud in those shorts ;)
