Trooper vs. UC Cops - WTF?

Embarrassing! Even though he continued acting like a tool after the ID was made, the trooper (uniform) was in the right here.

I am impressed.
Gives me the warm fuzzies. Good uniform to have backing you up. You know you are in good hands.
I am surprised he didn't get disarmed, face planted and hauled off in cuffs.
Regards, FM
PS...Before you start, Slapchop, FUCK YOU.

The only thing worse than driving to New Jersey is driving to New York via New Jersey.

Having said that one of the nicest cops who've pulled me over for speeding was in NJ. Go figure.

Let me get this straight. Cops (UC) getting butthurt because cops (trooper) did the same thing they (UC) would do if they were approaching a vehicle where suspects may be armed. Those guys (UC) need to LTFU and realise the shoe is on the other foot because they are UC. I would have drawn when approaching an unmarked veh with lights that I didn't recognize too then if the UC ID'd themselves (and weren't pissy about it) I would probably holster at that point.

I am surprised that their training did'nt teach them to talk to people a touch nicer, theres nothing wrong with being carefull or prepared but this is not good for either party

you would think by now there would be some sort of electronic identification in under cover cars. That would signal other law enforcement vehicles that they are legit. gps with some sort of electronic finger print. I don't know this just seams unprofessional. there are several ways this could have been avoided. I'm not a cops just asking.... Could the state trooper have contacted dispatch and confirmed the undercover before even getting out of his car.

I would think if I were in the middle of a traffic stop an already very dangerous situation and here come a guy that's supposed to be on my side and he's pulling a gun on me I would not be so happy. your kind of trapped between 3 very dangerous situations Trafic , the suspects in the car, and your so called comrade pulling his gun on you.

I've been on both sides of these incidents (both in uniform pulling over UC, and UC being pulled over) and the universal rule applies: it does NOT pay to piss off the police. And the guy in uniform has the "right of way" so to speak.

I agree with bogey brown. But, both of them acted like teenage girls fighting over a date for prom. Get off the road away from everyone and debrief.
Eli polite. The drivers seat is called the dead mans seat for a reason. If a cop rolls up on what the trooper thought he had, sitting in the seat and calling dispatch is not an option.
And as far as the gun pulling I only saw him unholster for a few seconds then holster back up. Did I miss him doing it again? He looked confused about whether to hold them at gun point or talk?

Both were very unprofessional & this argument should've been carried out off the side of the road, away from the public.

It is a "universal rule" that if you're working UC in an unmarked car, then all the responsibility to behave & prove your a real LEO is on YOU, not the uniformed patrol officer in a marked unit.

A friend of mine that I go out with to watch the late night street racing with is DHS. We’ve been pulled over a couple of times. He is as polite as could be, notifies the officer(s) we’re armed, shows his credentials and we are on our way with a “Have a nice night” every time…..imagine that. You get more flies with honey and all that.

I saw this last week... figured it would show up here sooner or later. The trooper was in the right to stop and to find out what was going on, given the rash of impersonations...

But they were all in the wrong to let this escalate the way it did. No excuse for that and the Sgt. did not help. Everyone should receive some level of discipline on this... and not just because it was filmed/leaked and they 'got caught,' but because it was unprofessional and conduct unbecoming, period. There is no place for this. Got a beef like this, take it to your chain of command.

Just my two percent of a dollar. YMMV.

Cheers,

Sirhr

Right here.
No one wants to get shot by your own guys.

If the trooper was so unsure about who these guys were, why did he yo yo his side arm back into the holster? Probably because he was experienced enough to figure out they were legit in 5 seconds. This should have never turned into a beef between depts. They should have settled it like cops instead of little bitches.

I never met a bad State Trooper in NJ (or anywhere else), I would give 10 -1 odds the Trooper could whoop all 4 county douche bags at the same time, these guys are iron men. The SP in NJ are very highly respected by everyone, from top to bottom, from criminals to honest people. Don't Fk with the State boys, they are always right and always judicious and everyone in that state knows it. Every county cop at that scene has just ruined whatever career they had going. Another thing, I don't know if I ever seen a local cop pull anyone over on the turnpike or the parkway in my life so the State Trooper was right in being suspicious in my opinion.

I dont know why some countries have so many polices Types, Because the no duristiction crap hinders alot of police with state lines county lines etc, If your a Police Officer of that Country that should be enough surely, Or is that too easy.

Well if you go full on bitch and poop all over where you sleep, don't expect people to be happy or welcome you in.
You pull a gun on someone & point it at them, you are threatening to kill them, don't expect anyone on the other end to ever forget it or their buddies either.

So, you're OK with him doing 120MPH off duty and weaving in and out of traffic to get to his secondary job? You're saying the FHP trooper was wrong to treat that Miami cop as a possible car thief given that he ignored her following him and trying to pull him over for four minutes? Are you also OK with the harassment she received from multiple agencies at her home?

I thought W54 was talking about the UC police and the Trooper, But as for that police woman she was right and any one in volved should face jail time not just a polite word between captains,

He directly quoted my post; pretty sure he was referring to it.

On the Fla situation its not uncommon to cruise with the flow of traffic on our Turnpike and 95 at 100 MPH + a bit. The cop was still in the wrong, the trooper was right, what pissed her off was his weaving in and out while going that fast. I personally have been pulled over going over a hundred on my Busa twice and not even a warning after they seen I was a middle aged (Old) guy, just a verbal, one stop the tropper and myself bs'd about bikes for about 10 mins as he was planning to get a ZX 14 when he retired.

Problem is very, very few are actually "driving" at that speed. Most are just pointing the vehicle.

Yet ANOTHER example of why you have uniformed Officers make traffic stops at the request of UC's. Around here, our UC's "cool cars" don't have lights or sirens. When they want a vehicle stopped, they request a uniformed Officer to make the stop, and the UC's pull up to the stop behind the uniform.

As for the video, embarrassing. No need to have a dick measuring contest on the side of the road. No matter how right you think you are.

Snitches get stitches, got it.
