After not being able to pull a trigger for a while (2-3 months) I got out yesterday and got some trigger time. I verified my zero real quick because the last time I had shot the rifle was in Virginia basically as zero altitude whereas here in Oklahkma I was shooting at about 750 ft above sea level. After getting all the atomspherics plugged in I went straight to 500 yards. After 10 rounds and 7 hits (missed the first 2 windage was a little off and held the wrong side of the target haha) made the corrections and got on target, printed about a 4-5 group, nothing special. After 500 we pushed the target back to 832 and again I had to walk the round up to the target bc I did not know my true muzzle velocity. Once on target I put 5 down range and hit 3 of 5, damn gusting winds got me there. The wind was about 3/4 value 10-12 mph back into us.
Then came the real test. I had never gone over 500 yards so it was all new to me. We put a bucket out at 1012 yards. Took 2 shoots and they were short, next shot hit was just over the top windage was perfect. After that I took 4 more shots and called it a day. 2 out of 7... Not bad for the first time at 1000 and took 3 rounds to get on target.

We shot from the top of the hill in the picture. The picture of the bucket was at 832 before we pushed it back to 1012.

And judging from the pic through the scope, shooting upside down. That's highly impressive!

In all seriousness, congrats. Shooting at 1K is no small feat.

Thanks! I have no idea why that picture is upside down. Any mods feels red to fix that for me! It's uploaded from my phone and the uploaded thing flipped it

There are some pics if the rifle and what I took with me. My bolt gun is:

Remington receiver with PT&G bolt all Trued
Brux 1:10 MTU finished at 24" with AAC 51t Brake for AAC 76.2-SD Suppresor
Timney 517 Trigger set at 1.7#
McRees Gen 4 folder with C-Product AI mag
Bushnell 3.5-21x50 HDMR H58 in American defense qd rings
    Harris Bi-Pod with

    It's chambered for 175 smk's.

Congrats man! Were you popping steel ?? To me that even adds to the enjoyment hearing that "pop" after you've already seen paint fly. Get ready, 1300 ain't easy, but I'm sure you'll manage. Let us know and congrats again

Thanks!! It was another bucket at 1012. I'm working on getting some steel. I'm also (hopefully) getting on a family friends land soon that has a good couple thousand acres. If so I'll for sure be at a mile soon! The bucket was pretty neat though the bullet went straight through (had the bottom filled with rocks) it made a weird 'thunk' sorta sound that echoed off the trees that lined where we were shooting so you could just barely hear it echo back. The misses were easy to see and the wind was gusting which sucked but made it there which is all that really counts. If I have to shoot in the same area to get to 1300
I would have to shoot over a river (not used for anything never any boats or people in this area). That area has winds that come over the trees from the river so I'm willing to bet the wind would kill me coming over the river. I guess we will find out when we get there.

Seeing bullet trace through your optics is probably one of the coolest things ever at real distance. That suppressor really helps- I doubt I'll ever shoot un-suppressed again

Do you have a good spotter?? Spotting Scope?? If so, you'll likely be on target quicker than you think if you'll be patient and pull the trigger whenever conditions are the most similar to what you've got dialed in your scope. Another thing , at 1300 .... I'd go with something bigger than a bucket. :). You pull that shot off and you da man !!

I really need to chrono those 175gr smk's fgmm. I was guessing my muzzle velocity and putting that into ballistic ae hence being about .7 mils off my first shot and just barely short my second shot at 1012, 3rd shot I made a bit to much of an adjustment and went BARELY over the left edge. I did not have a spotter nor a spotting scope. I was able to watch my trace and hits at 832 (I saw impacts easily at 500) so trace and impacts were enough at 1012 to get me real close within 2 shots. I was also aware that shooting in the same conditions was best. It was kind of a weird situation, shooting a zero group at 131 yards was the hardest shots I took all day the mirage was TERRIBLE- couldn't cut through it with zoom and my parallax and focus was good, but as soon as we stretch out to 500 then 800, and finally 1012 it wasn't as bad but could helped make accurate wind calls. It was 98* out. Hot as hell but a damn good time.

Not sure if you can see it in the picture but there are little orange flags that were already tired to the telephone poles out there so I used those to judge windage and made sure to squeeze the trigger in the same conditions.

My buddy that was with me is in the national guard and has never shot over 300 yards. I put him behind the gun and had him on target at 832 with a second round hit. He was pretty darn stoked. Just made good wind calls and had him at a good holdover in that Horus reticle... Makes things so easy.
