^^ This is BY FAR the best way to install a rail-mount bipod like the Atlas to a sporting rifle like what you have from the sounds of it. ^^
There are also similar products from Badger, Seekins, etc. that will give you the same basic setup (with nearly identical installation requirements).
Using one of the @#$% stud-to-rail adapters is really not a great idea as they are generally POS products that are bulky, add unwanted height/size to the bipod mount, and generally will create more problems that they solve. If you MUST use one of the adapters, for heaven's sake DO NOT buy the damned $32 Blackhawk one linked to above, but instead get the Weaver one (roughly 1/2 to 1/3 the price of the Blackhawk at only $11-15, but the EXACT SAME PRODUCT in Weaver packaging).
