Looking for thread on can for a 22mag, for fox hunting
has anybody used one on a mag,
not looking for holywood quite, but shot one on a sparrow saturday , an just to loud. worked will on 22lr
what do you guys think would be my best option an why.

Piedmont huh, which part? A 5.56 suppressor would serve you well for 22, 22mag, 5.56, etc. Cost more than a .22 can but worth it to serve many guns...

I've got a specter but I doubt it will be any more quiet than the sparrow. Both cans are very comparable. I'd think the sparrow would do a good job of making the muzzle blast quiet but none are going to be able to stop the down range bullet crack. You'll never get a 22 mag to go sub sonic.

22 mags are going to be loud period, no way around it.

That's it! Once the sound barrier has been past you can't get rid of the crack. Otherwise you could look into Griffin. You should steer away fron the 5.56 cans unless you find one that can be taken apart. 22 rimfires gunk up a can with lead the is easier to clean if you can take the can apart.

All that being said, my Mite has actually served me pretty well. I only shoot slow 22lr though.

Playerz. another NC. shooter, I,am just west up 40 from you.
hickory/conover. ever been to catawba valley rifle an pistol club,
if looking for a great place to shoot , send me a pm

as for the 22mag can, i know 22lr are drity, but is the mag just as drity.
i dont know alot about suppressors.

but i do alot of coyote/fox hunting, now that NC has passed law letting us use
suppressors, just thought would be nice to have another tool in the pack.
i use 5.56/223 an 22mag for most of my hunts

i went with the TBAC 22L-1. i already have other cans for 5.56 and 30 cal, so this was a no-brainer.

-longer brass, all else is essentially the same (just as dirty).

ok powder the same but not the bullet,
22mag that i am shooting have a copper jacket, that is what i am asking about being as drity
Thanks yote

The Tac Sol Cascade TI is 22 mag rated and quiet. Like others have said, you're going to get the crack either way, but the Cascade doesn't have the FRP of the Sparrow.

The Cascade is a sealed unit. To clean it you have to send it back to TacSol.

I bought mine from a local guy here in Houston. A different local guy put 30,000+ rounds of 22lr through one with no ill effects, at least none that I could hear, that's what sold me. I have around 4-5k through mine and no problems so far, other than I left Powder Blast in it overnight and it ate the loctite, allowing me to screw off the threaded endcap.

I don't currently have a threaded 22mag, but I've heard a Cascade/22mag combo and it was hearing safe, more noise from the crack than the muzzle. I don't know your area, but you might be able to find someone who has one you can try with your rifle, that would be best.

BTW, I don't want to come off as a Cascade TI fanboy, it's like everything else, it has it's strengths and weaknesses. For me the strengths were sound suppression (including FRP), light weight, availability, familiarity, and price.

BTW, TacSol has had great customer service. I called them and asked what to do about the thing coming apart, they said I could send it in, or they could just send me some loctite. I told them not to bother and picked some up at the parts store, but they were willing to do whatever I wanted. Great folks.

For funzzies today Yote I tried my TBAC 30p-1 on the 22WMR to compare to the Sparrow. I did this by utilizing a 5/8-24 to 1/4-28 adapter I bought from John11-87. Other than the Sparrow having a slight FRP they were darn close to my ears. I will say the TBAC looked mighty impressive on the CZ 452 Varmint. I completely forgot to take a picture though. :(

As mentioned, you can still hear the crack when a .22mag or 17hmr goes through my 1st gen element.

You have already tried the best 22 can on the market, the SS Sparrow, got one on the way myself.

Thanks Tom, i guess iam asking for to much, from the sparrow on the 22mag.
but still going with that plan, now for the loonngg!!!! wait.
when you shot the sparrow on both the 22lr an the mag at the TSC match,
the 22lr was way cool, more quite than expected.
but the 22mag wow, did you see all the people that were left turn an look, frp seemed louder, then no can 22lr
any way, going with the sparrow for the 22lr,
steve is building me a short barrel, ( 16.1/4 ") 221 fireball, may look into a can for it
see you next match thanks Curtis
