Rifle Scopes Looking for input ,, opinion on millett scopes

Users of the TRS are going to praise the scope, because who wants to admit on a public forum that they wasted $350 on a Chinese knockoff scope? If the final product for your rifle will be in the sub $800 range, there are plenty of better scopes to be had. A used Leupold or Vortex would be a better return on investment.

I usually do not but inexpensive scopes but inherited one (DSM-1) 1-4X20 on a 308 H&K. Other than mushy turret clicks once it was zeroed in it has served well so far. I really like the reticle.

A 308 gas gun will eat a millet in a hurry, I've had it happen and I've seen it happen. They're cheapo Chinese scopes. IMO somebody is a fool to buy one when there are good quality Japanese made scopes in the same price range. Check out the SWFA SS classic line as well as the bushnell elite 10x and the weaver tactical 3-10 that are available through midway.

I had one, worked well, gave it to my son. He has it mounted on a 20" Howa .308. It has been working well for him also.
The glass was clear and sharp, it tracked well and returned to zero. I liked the locking feature of the turrets.

Would I buy another?
No.
For three hundred I would buy the MidwayUSA weaver grand slam tactical 3-10x.
It is a vastly superior scope.
Next up would be a SS fixed 10x or 12x.

Keep looking. Better scopes exist for the same budget. Your best bet is buy a quality fixed power optic at that price point.

Have to send mine back. Have the 6-25 LRS. Tried zeroing my 510 Whisper and it's all over the place. Fired a couple of reference rounds, then dialed in 6" adj at 100yds and had zero change in POI. Going back to them!!

My advice. Stay far away from Millet. I had a terrible experience with the optic. 52 rounds through a .308 bolt rifle and something internally broke. Had to send it back and took 6 almost 7 months to get a new one back to me. Luckily I was deployed so it didn't really matter, but as soon as I got back I sold that thing before even opening the box the new one came in and upgraded big time.
I had the LRS 5-25x50?? Don't remember the exact specs but it was a mil/mil optic.

If i could suggest something near that price range I would go with weaver... or wait it out and spend a bit more on something like a Bushnell HDMR.

I had a 4-16. didn't meet advertised elevation. it was MOA. I finally got Bushnell to pay for shipping both ways, it was a nib scope that was busted, why should I pay a dime was my deal. so they got it back and I requested a mil/mil and its held up fine ever since. I never had an issue with it since. my 1-4x scope had a stiff zoom, sent it in and got a new one.

here is the thing. quality aside, the warranty service for me has been excellent. for me it was no questions, send and you get it back timely. no long waits for me. the thing is this. that scope is HUGE. the 4-16x is. the 5-25 is MONSTEROUS! really. I tried to put the 10x version on the 308 ar you see below in the signature line and it wasn't even on for a minute. too big. grab a bushnell 5x15x or 10x 3200. or that other one midwayusa has on sale every other month. its a 3.5-10 or something and its mil/mil... Weaver. 299. I like my millett, but unless its a 1-4x, I wont be buying another. it was a good intro to mil/mil because at the time it was the only cheap mil/mil you could get that wasn't 400-600

I agree with your advise on cheap scopes as I said before I usually do not but inexpensive scopes but inherited one (DSM-1) 1-4X20 on a 308 H&K. Other than mushy turret clicks once it was zeroed in it has served well so far. I really like the reticle. I've put over 300 rounds thru the rifle and the scope is still going strong. Would I buy one if it did not come as a throw in, not on your life. I guess I just got lucky at least so far. If it dies it doesn't owe me anything and I will just get another NightForce.

Buy whatever Vortex you can afford. If it breaks, they'll fix it. Great CS.

Fixed it for you. So will millet, the idea is to buy something that you aren't wondering when it's going to shot the bed. Also something that your rifle isn't going to be sitting and naked for a couple weeks while the screwed up scope goes back and forth.
