Well ladies and gents, here it is. After headache causing deliberation between, which action, which caliber, it's finally here and in my possession. I'd like to thank all of you here for dealing with my b.s. and being so helpful

The Action
I originally began this process being somewhat sour towards the R700 action, because EVERYONE has one, and I wanted to be different. Well, that's not always the smartest or cheapest attitude to have. I couldn't find a donor Model 70 action that was in my price range. So as I should have done in the beginning, I found a great deal on an R700 long action, which i ended up trading for a short action, and off I went to my gunsmith's shop with a slight idea of what I wanted.

The Caliber
I purchased the rifle in 7mm Rem Mag, because that was the caliber of choice I had narrowed it down to . . . Until TURBO, here on the hide, and also many others here, as well as my gunsmith made it perfectly clear that for my intentions (TAC match shooting, out to 1300yds) I simply didn't need ALL that muzzle blast and energy to accomplish my goals. So what was a person to do, but read read read and read some more. I researched the living hell out of different calibers. And made an educated decision that the .260 Rem was perfect for me.

Without further ado, here she is

The last picture is only to show the clearance between the optic and the handguard.

All work was performed by Bob Goettel at Liberty Arms LLC. And I will say that he one outstanding individual.

Parts
R700 action - blued and trued
Bartlein barrel -26",1/8,M24 taper,5/8x24 thread
Hollands muzzle brake
Badger bolt knob
Badger recoil lug
Timney straight trigger
XLR Chassis w/ tactical buttstock
Alpha Industries 10 rd mag
Vortex Viper HSLR, 4-16x50, XLR Reticle
TPS 20 moa base
TPS medium rings

The barreled action is a burnt bronze cerakote, while the chassis is highland green cerakote.

Judging by the test targets Bob gave me with the rifle, this thing is going to be a performer.

*UPDATE*
As some of you know I had a problem with the HSM Ammo that I purchased for the break in cycle of my rifle. (It just didn't group as well as I thought it would.) I'm here now to let you all know that I have settled on a load.

The 139 Scenars sitting on top of 42.5 gr of H4350 and stretched to a C.O.A.L of 2.90 is shooting fan-friggin-tastic. I'm talking 3/8" groups at 100 yards. I didn't think to take pictures because I was too excited that I could even shoot that well. But believe you me, next trip to the range I'm going to try and get some groups at 100, 300, and 600 yards, and I will certainly bring my camera and calipers.??:D
Thanks so much Bob, for a beautiful looking and shooting rifle.

Why a long action for .260? Thought this was a short action round.

You'll definitely be able to seat those bullets as long as you like. Start getting some good loads worked up if you've gotten your reloading gear set up. Run those heavies and seat them LOOOOONG. Might as well take advantage of that LA.

Pictures fixed. Sorry folks. And I left out the info that I traded the long action because it had a magnum bolt face

Nice looking stick you will have to post pics once you take it to the range.

Glad you like it, and shooting well for ya. You will be happy with the caliber. Thanks Again. And you'll like that MP5 as well LOL.
