Has anyone here purchased a rifle from Duck Creek Armory? I have one on order so I guess I'm a little late in asking for experiences. But I am curious nevertheless. I am getting impatient though as it's been 100 days and still no projection on when they will ship it. Thanks from one of the "newbies".

Sigh!! There's a reason that its better to ASK FIRST about a product/company before ordering than to jump off the deep end and then get the jitters after the fact when you are effectively stuck!! ;)

When a company markets itself as offering "cheap guns" and even "layaway" options for purchasing the "alleged" custom rifles they "manufacture"...red flags might go off somewhere at some point in time for some, but apparently not before the checkbook comes into play. There are far too many "known" entities out there that are building custom ARs these days to go with a relative unknown like DCA for an AR build...especially one where they are machining their own critical components like lowers, etc. Furthermore, they appear to be heavily reliant on components from some major mfgs, such as WOA for one example. WOA has a ~4 to 5 month backlog on orders for barrels, so depending on when they got their order in with them, how many barrels were ordered at that time (enough to fill their entire queue or only a portion, etc.), that's 120-150+ days of wait right there just for a barrel.

They list 90-day current wait times for AR type rifles and you have been in queue for roughly 100 days (assuming the wait was roughly the same time when you ordered if not slightly longer as the craze was still slowing down at that timeframe). If you aren't able to get adequate responses/info from DCA about your particular rifle, then at this point, about all you can do is be patient a while longer (as they are only ~10 days overdue at this point) and hopefully it'll come through within the next month and meet your expectations when it arrives (if it doesn't...then I suppose you get to find out, perhaps the hard way, whether their "lifetime warranty" is worth the bandwidth its printed on). The whole AR industry is still in recovery mode from the buying spree that many went on over the last 8-9mos so it is highly possible (ok...highly probable) that they'll not get things done as fast as they might have quoted you or any other customer. Doesn't make it right...but it is what it is and there isn't a lot you can do at this point aside from communicating with them and inquiring about any possible timeframe for your order, delays, etc., unless you want to eat a huge chunk of change for cancelling.

Good luck and God speed!

You can buy known quality AR's at WalMart for as low as $617. They are having a hard time moving them. Our local Podunk walmart has around a dozen getting dusty on the shelf.

ORD and Delta,

Thanks for the responses. And yes I am a dumba++. This is my first AR and I did look for several months before I did this. Don't know what country you live in but in the People's Republic of Washington Walmarts don't carry guns - guns r bad! And no gun shops had a rifle with the specs I was looking for so I took a chance. We'll see what happens here. They did say they're getting "close" to shipping my rifle. Thanks again.

I also ordered their basic m4. Good price and I liked the layaway idea. I expected a 90 day wait and their website says they typically can beat that. Sept 7 was 4 months. Needless to say I'm regretting my decision. Also my first ar. They told me some components didn't pass their quality assurance. Mmmmm.....

Careful what you say here-Don't want them to go full SEI on you.

Thanks for the responses folks. I should have been a bit more careful. mallrat-- I really like the gun laws quote / NYC LOGIC. Although I'm not sure what SEI means.

If this is Duck Creek Armory in Davenport, IA its across the river from me. I haven't heard anything bad about them locally, I would guess its just a supply issue. Have you contacted them?

And, as others have said, you could have bought a quality AR in stock from many dealers and had instant gratification.

SEI = Smith Enterprise, Inc. There are a couple other threads that'll probably help explain my comment.

I know, a month late. You must live around the Seattle area where guns are considered evil and nobody should own one. My local WalMart in Longview carries ARs. And so do quite a few others in Wa.

Should have gone to Rainier or Surplus. They've been selling some top-notch AR15s with Geissele triggers already installed from AAC if I recall correctly for around 1350. All is not lost however, just wait it out and hopefully you can take it out and abuse the shit out of it. I waited about 7 months on my LaRue when I was originally quoted like 3 a year or two ago. Hang in there!

All,

Please be advised of the situation as it stands, i'm posting a link so you all know about this. I hate doing this, as they are a local business and did a lot for the surrounding community but i cant stand by and let them do what they are doing lately. It would appear this business is out of business. Numerous customers have had their money taken and the business is doing all it can to avoid them. further, what refund checks were issued are apparently bouncing. BUYER BEWARE, AS THE WEBSITE IS STILL UP AND TAKING ORDERS...

BBB warns customers about Davenport gun dealer | WQAD.com

again, this is a business thats local to where i live. i've gone by the shop front and it appears to be closed down, no activity. FYI... numerous customers have gone to the Iowa Attorney General's office about this.

If you want to follow locally whats going on with this, there is an iowa weapons sell and trade page on facebook thats tracking it locally.

You're not a dumbass. you ordered from a business who was great at the beginning but went shady. My dad is a pretty smart guy and it was by dumb luck he didnt order from them. we have a friend of the family who's an RRA dealer and made him a better offer, or dad would be in the same boat you are.

Alright, spoke to a guy who currently works there as a second job, and have word that they are only 2 months behind on orders, and shop is still open. do not have a valid phone number for the shop at this point. will post more back soon. website is now offline, where as it was up and running as late as yesterday afternoon.

As the guy who started this thread, I wanted to provide an update. I got my AR a few weeks after this posting. It is VERY nice ...I am happy with it. What broke it loose finally is I got to talk to someone on the "build floor" not the guys in the "shop". Come to find out they couldn't get the Magpul furniture I had specified in FDE, so they were waiting. I said, 'do you have black?'...they said yes; I said "well put black on and ship the damn thing". They also snagged me a White Oak SPR barrel that I had originally asked for and was told it would be months. One of their weak areas is in production control and tracking and customer interface. They never seemed to know where my rifle was in the production "line" or when it would be done. And when they reached a snag - a minor one for me - they didn't call or email and explain the hold-up. I'm glad I got mine when I did and I hope they can work out their issues and keep on keepin' on.
