Well, after being inspired by TopPredator and BlackWhiskey I went ahead and did my own AICS .22 project. I originally was going to do a Savage MKII into the Well G96 Gas Airsoft stock with Aluminum chasis that I bought 2 weeks ago but I changed rifles last second. I stopped into a local gunshop today and they had the Marlin XT-22 Threaded model for only $20 more than the Savage base model and they cut me a deal on an extra mag so I bit and took it home. I tore the AICS stock down to bare bones and studied it for a bit and then off to Lowes I went in search of supplies. In reality, the actual "Work" involved was about 30 minutes but I agonized over every step and while I wasn't measuring per se, I was eyeballing it VERY closely. I will get into the build at a later time and do a complete walkthrough, but sufficient to say it is as if the Marlin XT-22 was designed for this stock. I don't really know if there are very many donor airsoft stocks out there right now as I got the 2nd to last one that Airsplat had at the time and the guy on the phone said they weren't getting any more. I hope the complete walkthrough in the next few days will help out anyone who is able to find a donor stock and also has a Marlin XT-22 laying around.

I threw a quick base and scope on there for the pictures as I placed an order for a DIP one piece mount and some rings for the spare scope I have laying around.

MSP, that looks great. don't know if you shot it yet, but it is a pretty comfortable stock, at least in my opinion. it will draw a crowd at the range, be prepared to talk more than shoot

same with me having a good "EYE" is the trick of the install, meaurements are almost impractical, minimal expense on hardware.

like you said and what i found too is that the amount of actual work is minimal and threads like all of ours on the install will make it easier on others that want to do it.

great job, the next thing for mine is a scope, oversized bolt handle, and maybe a krylon job.

again, that came out nice.

Re: Marlin XT-22 in Airsoft AICS

My only problem with the whole build was I broke the part that holds the tri-rail bipod thing so I have to MacGyver up a way to get that to stay, and the bipod stud's hole is too small for my harris bipod so I have to take a drill to it to open it up. Other than that, it really was trimming a tab off the aluminum chasis, figuring out how many washers and what size spacers to use, and then bolting it on and trimming the skins. If I didn't do it myself I wouldn't believe it was that easy. Im going fishing on the Chesapeake Bay all day but will try to get the video and pictures shot today as well when I get back.

Awesome looking gun, looks like a fun project!

Also would Viper skins fit on this??? Thanks

Re: Marlin XT-22 in Airsoft AICS

I don't know if viper skins would fit this as I'm not too sure how close to the real deal the existing skins are. If someone wants to give me a set I could check

Re: Marlin XT-22 in Airsoft AICS

With all thse conversions as of late, I've been hitting the airsplat scrapyard myself.

If anyone is looking they had 6 or 7 Wells G96s this week all with useable stocks/"chassis".

I despise the tacticool on my savage mkII so figured I might as well try my hand at one and ordered a stock.

So those of you that have done this conversion may receive a PM or two from me in the upcoming weeks.

Re: Marlin XT-22 in Airsoft AICS

Slight update. Been dealing with a sick kiddo and fiancee so I still haven't done a complete walk through for you guys but I did get the sling swivel opened up for my bipod......then it snapped in half because it was pot metal.....pissed. New plan is to either fab one up myself or use a spare Magpul rail in the handstop slide-rail and a picitanny adapter for the bipod. I saw some guys using "T Brackets" but when I went to home depot all they had were round brackets which I don't think would work. Any thoughts to me using a regular washer the size of the large opening and then screwing the rail section through that? Do you think the washer would hold up or should I search the interwebs for a "T Bracket"

Re: Marlin XT-22 in Airsoft AICS

try a bipod adapter for an AR15 hand guard, the one with "wings" that grab on to the inner surface of the handgaurd, and allow the sling stud part stick out.

i think the bipod would "clamp down" the wings when you tighten the screw on the pod. then you can slide the pod back and forth in the groove.

the same could probably be done with a fender washer (using as the winged part), stud, and nylon nut. i'm going to give that one a try.

Re: Marlin XT-22 in Airsoft AICS

This thread got me motivated. I have been looking for a 40x action to use in my AICS but $1300 was the cheapest rifle I could find and it is not a repeater. So, I located an airsoft stock identical to yours and bought the same marlin rifle. I am waiting on it to arrive now. Did the action bolt right up to the chassis? were any spacers required to get the action up to a workable height?
It looks like you removed the magwell from the chassis. Is that correct? I was going to try to keep the magwell to use the release lever and link it to the 22 action if possible. I will have a better idea when I have the rifle in hand. Thanks Chris
