Curious if anyone knows what happened to Underground Skunk Works. They use to be mentioned quite often on this forum but know you hear little or nothing about them.

Do they now go under the name of blackopsprecision? What is the quality of their rifles?

BlackOps Precision

they are now black ops, very accurate rifles, fit and finish is some of the best out there.

the quality of their rifles are top notch. I have one UGSW rifle and one BlackOps but they are the same company. Mike and crew are a quality bunch. Whenever I see a BlackOps rifle for sale in the For Sale section I always check my gun fund as I always want it!

Is Mike still building or operating at the moment? I haven't seen a new build from him in a while and after the re-brand and Defiance fiasco it seems he hasn't put anything out. I know he is suppose to be manufacturing his own actions but what about all the builds that were in line after he left Defiance, are those guys stuck waiting on his new action? I hope he survives these trials and tribulations because his work seemed to top notch.

I've been waiting on my 22lr for 13 months. I provided the 40x action as well. We will see how it turns out.

Yep, they are still building - I have a WildCall Custom hunting rifle that is just about finished & ready to come home to Daddy!!

One of Mike's new in-house "Drop Tine" actions.

Just got an email from Tim that rifle was complete & going into cerakote last Tuesday - I expect it to be shipping out in the next week or so!!!

If that's one of his new actions, please post pics and your thoughts.

That's just too long. I understand he's had set backs but Its not like his guns are shooting 1/4 moa and nobody else can build to that standard or quality. I understand too the want in all of us and when you want it, you want it. I hope it arrives soon.

Has Mike had contact with you about it and giving you any details? What is the exact holdup, I would assume the action?

I was told all my parts are ready just waiting on assembly and finish.

It'll be worth it when it shows up = Mike's rifles are very nice!![/QUOTE said:
My first custom was ~ 2 years from Long Shot Rifles. I now have 5 from UGSW / BlackOps, one of which was fixing the Long Shot Rifle that turned out to be junk. While it took a long time, the rifles are worth the wait.

I have a UGSW Infidel 338 Lapua I waited something like 10-12mo (cant remember exact time) for it. It is a tack driver from what I have shot of it (24rds LOL). Mike does outstanding work.

worth every penny, im workin on specs for my second. fit and finish is amazing, I have shot more 1/4" 5 round groups with this rifle than any other.

for a while I was changing scopes back and forth from a S+B to NF , so much so , I might have caused the scope base screws to come loose , my groups opened up to about 1/2", I went crazy for a while thinking it was my brass etc. when I took my head out of rectomville I checked the screws , I find it amazing that the dowels that align the scope base to receiver were the only things keeping it aligned , I would guess if I would have pulled straight up the base might have came off, my last 10 rnd group was still under 1/2" with everything loose. now that's some machining. once I tightened them back to 15in lbs all back to normal and little bugholes., although 10 rnds under a 1/2" @ 100 is still better than most rifles with everything already tight.
