Hello everyone, went to the range today to test out some .308 ammo i picked up. Here is what i found as my results
Remington 700 .308 with 26 inch barrel and a break. TImney 517 trigger. Temp outside is 74 deg f shot at 100 yards off bi-pod and rear bag. 3 shot groups
The ammo i was curious about was some bulk reloads i found at Dicks sporting goods (ultramax 168gr hpbt).
also tested
Win match 168gr hpbt
Win 180gr bonded tip
Hornady 168gr A-max
and Hornady 165gr sst
I was completly surprised with the results... listed in order from best group to largest group

Ultramax 168gr shot .57
Win match shot .58
Hornady 165gr SST shot .90
Hornady 168gr A-max shot 1.0
Win 180gr shot a 1.7

Has anyone else tried or use the ultramax factory reload ammo? It kinda threw a shock to see that it will perform that well for a low cost. $64.00 for 60 rounds

I reload myself, but have heard from others that Ultramax worked well for them.

We used to shoot the Ultramax 168 bthp as practice ammo when I used to be on the swat team. Same point of impact and moa grouping as the Fed GMM 168 bthp. They make a soft point version too. Worked great for hunting.

I've had great luck with Ultramax 68gr HPBT in .223. Shot on par with Black Hills ammo.

That said, try testing with 2 or more 5-shot groups per ammo type instead of 3-shot groups.

I've shot the Ultramax with decent results also. I did notice it seemed to burn a lot dirtier than other factory loads (FGMM, Black Hills), but that definitely wasn't a deal breaker for me.
