I am looking to "update" my DMR set up on my HK91. What I currently have is a standard hk91 with surplus hensoldt 4x scopes. What I am planning on doing is getting a trigger job, change locking piece and add a suppressor. Which leaves me to my last question. I would like to push the rifle to more of the max distances for the platform. So the biggest change needs to be the optics. I was originally been kicking around the SWFA 1x6, however I do not think that provides me a major upgrade in optic power compared to my surplus hensoldt scope. So that leaves me to where I am now.

I have been kicking around a vortex pst 2x10 scope, but was curious if you all had other reccomendations.

sure appreciate the help.

If you're looking to go as cheap as possible without sacrificing much quality I'd check out the SWFA fixed 10x for $299.99. Just search the forum for info on the company. They have a pretty good reputation here on the Hide. If you need variable power they have a 3-9 for $599 and a 3-15 for $699. When you save up enough to upgrade the scope you can sell the SWFA for a minimal loss. SWFA also offers a trade-in program where you can trade in an old optic the purchase of a new one. I have a GAP-10 on order and I plan on running SWFA's fixed 10 until I can save up enough to get the glass of my dreams.

Also, you should move this thread to rifle scopes section.

If you're target shooting, then something along the 3-9 or 2.5-10 or some such variable is going to allow you to reach to the useful range of the rifle. I say targets, because the higher power is great for making small groups on targets. If you plan to hunt things, then a 1-6 is fine (since HK used a 1.5-6 on their DMR, the G3/SG-1). That begs the question- what do you consider the useful range of the rifle? What ammo do you plan to use?

I would not consider this as a target set up, but rather more a hunting or silhouette shooting rifle.

I plan on loading for the rifle, so hopefully I can find a load it prefers. From my reading it seems somewhere between 150 and 168gr bullet. I would like to be able to puts hits on target at least to 600m. Longest I have taken the rifle out so far is 500m. But max distance I assume will be dictated on wht load it ends up prefering.

We, I can't imagine anything other than a S&B or Hensoldt on that HK but whatever you go with keep in mind clearing the bell on the objective when pulling the charging handle. They changed the angle of the tube slot/handle on the PSG1 exactly for that reason..................don't ask how I know.
