school me on wireless security cameras

My "farm" as we affectionately call it, (even though we don't grow or raise anything on it) got broken into last week. they stole my trail camera, solar panel, and battery from my feeder. they broke into the cabin and the garage and got tools, and my stihl chainsaw. anyways I want to get a camera on the gate and on the cabin, I thought of just putting one on the feeder instead of buying a new trail cam. I have no knowledge on security cameras, so can someone point me in the right direction. I have power running close to where all the cameras would be located. I just want the wireless for the transmitting the video to the recorder. I may have to get 2 recorders because the distance between the gate and the cabin.

I am looking at a 4 channel 4 camera system that I can add a second receiver. any help would be appreciated.

I run a wireless video system from my RC plane - FPV - First Person View.

Look at the Sony 600TVL or anything higher, ie 650 or 700TVL.

Lawmate wireless, and then you'll need a DVR to record it.

Have it overwrite every couple of days.

If you are going to use wireless cameras make sure none of them are on the inside of your house or other potentially sensitive areas. As was stated, it isn't hard for someone to scan the freqs and find the one your wireless cameras are on and see everything those cameras see.

Hard wired/installed is good to go for interior/exterior cameras.

This is how I feel about internal cameras in our home too. I'd be ok with external facing cameras though.

It pains me to hear about your burglary. I had a series of very bad experiences that called for me installing a wireless system. There have been several good solutions posted above. I have just two things to add:

1. Do not disclose the presence of your security system. This simply motivates a perp to avoid it or find some way of rendering ineffective. I also had a "camera on a camera" with a backup system in case they found and destroyed the more obvious unit.
2. Send the data to a cloud. Otherwise, if someone does find your equipment and decides to steal it or destroy the structure you will be left with no evidence.

I understand the reluctance to video sensitive areas, but I was able able to catch someone doing some pretty bad stuff because I had no such reservation. If no one knows you have a system then they are less likely to go looking for it. I also put up some dummy cameras as a decoy.

Funny story...local guy put up a trail-cam outside his house to try it out. Several days later caught a neighbor peeping into another neighbors house.

A couple additional things to consider: 1) if there's no internet connectivity, you're screwed, this obviously means that you cant access it remotely or send any video to "the Cloud" 2) if there's camera's hardwired to a DVR, bad guy is going to follow the wires and steal the DVR AND the cameras. As far as wireless goes, figure on half the distance as the manuf. states, so if they say the signal can be sent 500 ft, figure 250, and at this low price point, line of sight between the cameras and the head end is a must.

Option; get some trail cams off Craigslist (or buy new) and put them around the property, hide them good, if they steal them, what are you out? $50-100? There's not a great solution when there's no connectivity, AC power is only one obstacle, connectivity is the issue here. PM me if you need additional info, been in the business for 20 yrs.

Alternative for the OP: seen this today,pretty cool, a wireless trailcam that sends pics to your smart phone, you install a AT&T SIM card in your phone and pay $10/month, up to 1000 pics per month.
