80% model 700 receiver

Go to the "conversation" tab near the top of the description, you can ask him questions. I was going to ask if he has another website but hadn't yet. He mentioned a Facebook page, but I'm not on that so it doesn't seem to do me any good ;)

1) "Blank from non-heat treated steel. "

You need to machine it, and you need to heat treat it, then you need to true it up after heat treat.

Additionally:

My dad bought 2 of his 80% AR10 pattern lowers, they are currently 8 weeks past due and he has received 2 emailed excuses but has not received parts.

I like the idea, but until my dad gets his stuff and it comes in the quality promised, I'd personally be cautious of spending more money with this company.

The blanks and 80% receivers are available both heat treated and non-heat treated 4140 steel, as well as stainless.
Personally, I'm not in any hurry, and never having done business with this company before I don't have a quality standard to expect. I figure it's like gambling, I'll only risk what I can afford to lose. Hopefully I'll get a nice product, but if not, I'm not out the rent money.

Two e-mails in two months? Better customer service than a lot of places;)

You could ask him, either from the "conversations" tab on his Rockethub page, or his Facebook page. Think I'll get a stainless long action or two, keep my options open. :)

Thinking about building an XP100 inspired bolt action pistol from one of these receivers. 30.06 or 22-250? ;)

Local laws may vary, but generally, if you can legally possess a firearm you can manufacture a weapon for yourself. You only have to register it with the ATF and engrave serial number if you want to sell it, or if if falls under NFA rules (SBR, SBS, Destructive Device, etc.)

Finish machine work ( that's why you can get it delivered direct and don't have to pay your FFL a transfer fee) with a drill and dremel, not likely to need re-heat treated if you ordered an 80% that's already heat treated. Obviously you can use a mill to simplify the machining, but it's possible to use the jig to get it done with common hand tools.

This is a little closer to reality but still off.....there is no such thing as registering a non NFA firearm. Title 1 firearms aren't registered with ATF or anyone else. As a private party you don't need to register anything that isn't NFA and as for serial numbers you aren't required to use them ever. They request that you use a serial number if you sell it or otherwise dispose of it. At one time there was some talk about a serial number and makers info being required if you cross state lines but even that is contestable. As noted above, local laws may vary so check them out first but the fed requirements are pretty simple. If its not NFA its pretty much a non issue.

Thanks, I've never gotten around to selling one of my firearms, never mind a homebuilt, so I hadn't really looked that far into it. I just knew homebuilts for your own use don't require federal registration.

Anyway, thinking these might also make a good base for a bullpup build.
