Ok.... Today is the DAY... Whatever the FINAL vote is at the END of the work day (5pm) will decide the fate of the rifle....

It is ALL left up to the HIDERS here as to if I paint the 700PSS or not. I have FLAT BLACK,OD GREEN, SAND... It would ALL be a quick rattle can job just to mix it all up and have ONE painted rifle in my possession.

THE QUESTION:
Paint it... or leave it...

Just respond below... and IF the winning vote IS for paint... I will do it tonight.. and post pics in the morning.

Thanks,
Matt (LEO SOUTH GA.)

AFTER PICTURES..... YES!!!!! I will try to replace the rings this weekend.

Unless you use a good paint (not a rattle can from Home Depot) and do proper preparation..... I vote NO.
Brownells has some good rattle can paints but I am in love with Cerakote heat version, more work but better results.

Pant it! I did my LTR with flat Krylon and sponges.

i say paint it IF IT IS SET UP HOW YOU WANT IT.

To me it looks like the scope is too high to get proper cheek weld - maybe it fits you though. Go get everything the way you want it, shoot it several times to confirm it is good, then paint it.

Yeah.... The scope mount is a GO. I have a stock pack on it... and with medium rings the scope was just TOOO low. I could NOT push my cheek hard enough into the stock to get a good setup... I used the REPR mount that I is on it... and it really makes it much more comfortable...

This is a trunk...in the truck rifle....

I know about prepping the metal... Not looking for a $200 cerekote... this is a SIMPLE rattle can with Walmart KRYLON made for metal... If it comes off... then I respray it later on.....

Thanks!

Sooo far... its a GO for paint at this time.. about 5 more hours will tell the tale :)

I vote for Krylon rattle can. Sure it's not the most durable, but what the hey, it's easy and cheap to touch up and re-coat. Just let it cure for at least 24-48 hours before fondling ( I mean handling)

Yep - paint that thing...Only because it's your rifle and not mine.
Don't just do one solid color though - be a sniper!

No worries... I will be the NEW "SNIPERY" rattle can job :)

Only 3 hours left.... looks like it is a BLOW OUT for painting !!!

If this is your final set up and you aren't planning on swapping stocks in 2 months then go for it. If you are still looking to upgrade you may want to wait or just stick with krylon that can be removed

This rifle will stay like this for as long as I have it and at this point I do NOT plan on getting rid of it.....

MTNCREEK: I agree... I will NOT paint the bolt at all.... I have seen some gum up with Krylon on the bolt in the past...

I'd probably paint it with some soft edged stencil design. As others have already said, I'd look over your scope height again. I know you said it was too low, but something seems way out of whack there. Between the rail and the AR mount, it looks like that scope is 1/2-3/4 of an inch higher on the rifle than it should be.

Paint every thing cuz you bought the whole can of paint. How is your cheek weld with the scope sitting in a different area code?

With that said, I like cheesy Krylon digitals.....

Paint it!! Sand and OD together:

Krylon does not hold up well though, especially in a trunk. It'll have scratches and exposed black pretty quick. On the other hand, it's cheap to touch up.

If you want a professional camo job and are willing to pony up the dollars (I think he's very reasonable) I recommend contacting Branden from Custom Gun Coatings: http://www.snipershide.com/shooting/members/short-bus.html

NASA called!! They said your scope is blocking there return path back to the Moon!!

....and they said PAINT IT!!!!!!!

NEW PAINT! I decided to try my hand at some SPONGE painting....

Let me know what you think from the one above...

Thanks!
