i was driving around today, visiting all of the LGS i usually go to see if anything jumped out at me and said, "BUY ME DAMN IT!".

i was asking about piston ARs, and the only thing i saw was a Chritensen Arms CA-15. they had 2, both piston, one with the carbon fiber barrel, and one with the SS barrel.

they were nice and light, i liked the trigger.

but i have not heard anything about them. for $3000, you would think so.

i asked how they compare to the LMT, POF, LWRC, LaRue, etc, and he claimed that Chritensen is right up there with them. of course, he could have just been trying to off load the rifle. he was laying it on pretty thick.

intended purpose is killing paper, clay pigeons that are placed on the berm, etc. it will wear a YHM phantom 30 cal QD suppressor sometimes.

i would be leaning towards the SS barrel.

i did some quick google looking, but most everything i came across was for their hunting rifles.

let me know your thoughts.

Christensen has been around a long time. He did his PhD on carbon fiber wrapped barrels, which is where he made his name. He even had a contract with Remington to build barrels for them in the late 90s. I can tell you reviews of his barrels were inconsistent. Some were great, others, not so much.

I don't know about his ARs, but his entire design theory is built around light weight using exotic materials. The designs always intrigue me, but not enough to blow as much cash as he wants.

i went to another LGS today. they had a daniel defense DDM4V4. i have always heard about them, but never put hands on one. it was nice.

they also had the ruger piston. shitty trigger.

i am not afraid to put up some money, but it needs to be worth it.

as This I'll Defend pointed out, i saw that video too. but it is only one dude's opinion.

as theshooter said, the reviews i have seen were on both sides - awesome vs. shit.

If you are looking a pistons, I would reccommend looking at PWS, however, their order timelines are long. It is much easier to get one from gun broker or slickguns.com. I reccommend PWS because I have their Mk2 and love it. It definitely outshoots me. If I had infinite funds, I would have one of each caliber and barrel length.
