i offered up my glock 35 slide to a machine shop friend of mine who wanted to add some lightening cuts in the slide. He works in a nice shop with some large equipment and can turn out some nice work. When they dropped a very new carbide bit on the slide it wanted no part of milling a cut. Is there a special bit or something i need to know to make this go better. It seamed to barely go through the finish.

You sure it was really carbide? They cut fine with carbide or TiN coated tooling.

I don't know much about machining, but have small Enco mill and cut a Glock slide with PTG carbide end mills. It was obviously pretty hard, but I didn't have any trouble ..... just a bit of a pucker factor cutting on something I never tried before and heard so much about.

dont want to high jack someones thread but i do offer this as a service. it seems as some of you like the work that i am doing and if you are interested pm me and we can go over the details. i do this as side work so i am cheap and have a fast turn around time.

well shit looks like my 19 will most likely end up in the mill because of you...
