I understand that no one here can really give me any answers, but I'd appreciate speculation just as much. What are the chances we will see some quality FFP optics in the $1000-1500 price range at SHOT show in January? The last time something came out in this range (that I saw) people swarmed over which was the SWFA 5-20. Also, I'm not generally familiar with the process, but if something were to be announced at SHOT, what would be the likely time frame for actual release?

Again, I know this would end up with opinions and not facts, but I'm trying to decide whether to grab one of the 5-20s now or if I should wait a while.

There's been A LOT of FFP scopes in the 1k-1500k range, that's been released the past couple years.

Bushnell, Leupold, SWFA, Weaver, Vortex, etc.

Burris will be releasing a number of high quality MIL-MIL, FFP scopes in the $1K range.

It really depends on the company, some have the product in full production with inventory ready. Some products never make it to market or shouldn't (kimber solo).

My experience overall is 6 to 10 months for new products arriving at the LGS.

B&T should be releasing the new heavy F-Class version of the Atlas bipod at Shot. I would like to see that. I have a couple on order in advance - and there is a Group Buy (sort of) to get some coated. I expect there will be some time - maybe 6 months before there is any production (at least), since B&T has stated they are bringing a prototype to Shot 2014.

I have heard Premier is also going to have some announcements...

Sightron announced their new S-TAC range earlier this year, August I think, but nothing out yet. They're also going FFP for a few scopes too, I assume the F-class/benchrest scope models.

If they do the 3.5-17.5x56 in IR SFP mil/mil w/ a decent price seems like a quality option for about a 10 lb. build hunting / target rifle I've been wanting to build. Of course, I'd rather have a Leupy Mrk. 6 but for the right price that would be tempting.

Sightron, like Vortex, has been listening to the long range shooting crowd and can't wait to see what they have in store for the S-Tac line....
