I've been thinking of getting one of these scopes for my predator night hunting rifle. Does anybody have experience with this scope? I'm looking for honest opinions from anyone who has used it. Thanks!

I've got the zombie edition 1-4 vxr on my sig 556P. I absolutely love it, I considered buying an acog but after looking through this I changed my mind

I have two, 2-7x33 and 3-9x40. They are great for anything from open prairie to deep brush. The dot makes for quick acquisition. However, the reality is the glass and coatings are equivalent to the VXII and some lower end MK4's. Not that this is bad, but a VX3 or VX6 may have better low light performance. The VX3 is in the same price range and has the extended twilight coatings, but the VX6 is twice the price.

I think its pretty cool of Leupold to have video answers like that for customer questions. Wish more companies had that kind of interaction.

To the OP, I did notice Leupold makes the VX-R in a 3-9x50 also, with a few nice low-light reticle options. I like the German #4 for low light, and paired with Firedot I'm sure it would be even better. Looks to be compatible with the CDS dials too, and as long as it is calibrated correctly, it would make a really fast system for night predator hunting.

Thanks for the info. I found one with a green dot at a local store, but the ones on MidwayUSA have a red dot. Which would be better for use with a red light at night?

You sure the green dot is not a Leupold Mark AR? I thought all the VX-Rs were red and the Mark ARs were green, but could be totally wrong.

Really like my VX-R 3-9x-40 with the ballistic firedot. Worked great on my .30-06 this season. Will be getting more for my other hunting rifles.

Yeah, I'm positive. Its a scope that the shop owner got from his Leupold rep. It has VXR on the box, as well as "Leupold Custom Shop". It wasn't priced, so the shop owner tried to look it up by part number, and it wasn't in any of his catalogs. Eventually, he had to contact his Leupold rep and ask. I just wonder if the green dot would be better, or worse when used with a red predator light.
