Dose anyone know anything about Millet scopes (Good or Bad) I'm looking at the Millet TRS-1 4-16x50 scope and I was just wondering if any has any info on it or millet scopes in general

Thanks,

Run and run away fast. Not worth the hassle and everybody that talks good about them only does so because they have only had for a few days, weeks or months. They do not last.

I have a Millet DSM-1 1-4X20 that has been in service on several rifles (currently on an H&K SR9TC) that has given me excellent service. Is it as clear as my NF 1-4X20 no. But It is fine for its intended use. The only down side is the turret clicks are very hard to feel and that makes it somewhat difficult to zero in. That may not not be the case on the scope you asked about.

I've had mine for three years now, around a thousand rounds of .308 have been fired under it from thirty below to ninety above, it's fallen a couple times, been bumped a lot. The adjustments work, the clicks are inconsistent in feel and sound, have been since new. It's not as bright as my 4500 Bushnell, though just as clear, I have no truely high end optics to compare it to. Holds zero fine. Mostly it got me out shooting on sale I paid very little for it, if it fails I'll upgrade, if I come into discretionary funds or start shooting comps I'll upgrade, but for now it works.

I have one on my fcp-k and so far so good. I haven't shot long range with it yet but rifle and scope are driving tacks at 100 yards. crisp clicks, easy to zero turrets, and reticle light is nice. Think I got mine on sale as well for $280, I think. Cant beat that price for that scope. Should have bought 2.

That's baloney. I've had one for years, and I run the elevation knob on most every shot. It's not perfect by any stretch, but it's decent for the money. The biggest flaw, and it's a big one, is that the reticle is calibrated at 10X, not the max power of 16X. This is profoundly stupid, and nearly reason enough to not select it. I've resorted to massaging my dope so I get good wind holds at max power.

The glass is decent, and I'm comparing to a Super Sniper, Nightforce, and a USO. Not great, but acceptable considering the cost. Im not super critical of glass quality, so i may not be the best judge. The tracking has proved to be spot on.

I had need of another scope in that price range for precision shooting recently. This time, I chose a SS 20X. I haven't checked tracking yet, but it appears to be good. If I didn't care about variable power or illuminated reticles, I'd opt for the SS. The clicks feel better as does he entire scope. It's a pretty subjective evaluation based entirely on feel.

I wouldn't hesitate to run another Millett if I had to have variable power and my budget was limited to $300.

Millett = lens mold.

As was stated, wait a year or so and watch your "coated" lens become more like a toilet seat.

Their customer service is decent but not consistent.

I have owned one and did not like it. Tracking was terrible. There are better scopes with fewer features for the same price. In that price range there are several fixed power scopes with target turrets. Check out opticsthoughts.com for some comprehensive reviews of different price range tactical scopes.

I have one on a AR.

Its not perfect, the glass is what you pay for, and the scope need be looked at in terms of Value. For what you pay it offers a lot.

Its not the scope I would trust a life over

Might I suggest that for a few more hundred the SWFA 3-15 comes to mind. So if you happen to maybe have some extra money sitting around this SWFA scope will off you LL warranty, FFP, MIL/MIL and I'm willing to bet it will last longer then the Millett. I was thinking of buying a Millett a long time ago and ended up with SWFA scope and glad I did. Also SWFA is made in Japan while the Millett is made in China. Sorry but I still dont trust a Chinese scope.

All of a sudden the pro millet guys have gone dormant. I have been around them first hand with friends. One was warranted 4 times in one year before they said not to send it back again and the other was said to be repaired twice in one month but nothing was touched on it. Pm me and I will get you their numbers so that you can understand their frustations first hand. Won't hold zero, zero changes under recoil, 1/8 moa turret is actually .310 per click, reticle turns with power ring, fogs up under humid and hot conditions, toilet seat scenario, soft tubes, crap glass under high magnification and made in China. Save for a week or more and buy something a little better. The SS line is pretty good for just a couple bucks more.

I had one a few years ago on a Savage .308 and after a few times out the reticle fell about 25 degrees to the left and there was loose parts inside. Millet took it back and sent me another scope. I sold the rifle and scope after that but not because of the scope I just wanted something different. Did I purchase a Millet for my new rifles...no. Recently a shooting friend who dosent have much cash purchased one of these...Millett Sights - Long Range Scope and has had good luck with it for about three months now.....time will tell. Its not as clear as the higher dollar stuff but hey...if he's happy with it...
