Hello

I'm looking to have some feedback on the nemesis arms vanquish rifle. I searched and have find very little infos by users.

I have no problem to pay this kind of money for a rifle but i would like to know if the rifle work like advertised.

Any infos will be appreciated !!

The switch to vBulletin seems to have made it more difficult to search older threads. There have been a few long threads about the Vanquish, some where the owner jumped in and made an ass of himself and the rifle got mixed reviews. It's based around Bill Richie's Mini-Windrunner but has been updated significantly according to Dave at Nemesis Arms. To my recollection, the rifle works as advertised - it's accurate, compact and short-action switch barrel.

I recall reading some threads here on this gun awhile back. What sticks out in my mind is the negative feedback on it from a guy who bought one and has had nothing but problems with it from round 1 down the tube to the poor customer support. So in short, I haven't heard anything good about it from people who actually own one, so take it for what is worth.

I did a quick search here on the hide and several threads came up. Here is one outlining the problems. http://www.snipershide.com/shooting/snipers-hide-px-looking-buy/177884-looking-nemesis-vanquish-similar.html

I have one with a 16 inch .308 barrel and 20 inch 6.5 creedmoor barrel. The build quality is excellent and the gun has operated flawlessly. It's got a great trigger, is easy to shoot, easy to maintain, and a pleasure to shoot.
Customer service has always been excellent. I have always been able to reach the owner if I had a question before and after buying.
I have had no issues with mine and would recommend one.

I had a chance to shoot one about 18 months ago and fell in love with it. Not sure why as there are a lot of other great rifles out there but somehow this one just felt right. So, a few months ago I ordered one in .308 w/ 16" barrel. Just heard today that it'll be shipping next week. Once I get my NF 5-15 x 50 F1 on it and put a few rounds downrange (hopefully next weekend), I'll let you know.
As for the couple of negative reviews out there, I've also heard a lot of good things about the rifle and there are a lot of very satisfied owners out there. Hey, we all know that someone is going to have problems and that gets advertised and talked about far more than all the good things. The old "1 ah $hit wipes out a lot of atta-boys".
As for the people, they are very nice and helpful but they are a very small shop (it may be just the husband and wife - not sure) and when they have a show or other event there is no one there to answer the phone or emails so sometimes it's been a wait to get a response on things. Since I don't have the rifle yet, that hasn't been a problem.

Thanks guys for all the infos very appreciated !!

I have order one, now the wait game begin ...

Got It!

Got the Nemesis Arms Vanquish in yesterday. Mounted my Nightforce NXS F1 on it and a monopod under the stock. The scope has an objective lenses sun shade on it that adds about 3 inches and prevents it from fitting in the backpack. Took that off and the rifle and scope fit fine. I'll get it on the range tomorrow evening if all goes as planned and see what she can do.
Laid it out and it looks like I can fit it in a Pelican 1520 case (without the sun shade on the scope) with 4 mags if I can get the custom foam fixed up for a fair price.

I've had mine for over 2 years now. I've had no problems with the rifle, it holds zero everytime I take it apart for transport, and its a solid rifle. ITS made from billet steel! Not many rifles you can say that about. And customer service is outstanding. I also love the way it shoots. Ditto on all the statements above.

Their website shows that their muzzle break is machined from billet. I don't see any explanations that their other parts are billet, and I'm sure it would be noted if they were. For those of you that aren't in the know, parts milled from billet steel are MUCH stronger than cast or MIM parts.

I like this system. It packs down small and the reviews seem to back it up as an accurate system. Too bad it won't do long action. Nothing like 308 to 338lm switch barrel system.

I've had my new Vanquish out a couple times now and have about 70 rounds through it. Had a couple malfunctions that I've had to work out. First few rounds ended up 90 degrees to the barrel during the feed. Not sure how that happened but after that, haven't had that problem again. Had two rounds that didn't fit the barrel and jammed up before being fully seated. These were American Eagle, 168gr Match. However, after extracting them then hand feeding them into the barrel (removed the barrel) they fit fine. Ended up shooting them without a problem later. No apparent feed ramp or bore issues to explain either of these. Then, 1 of my four magazines seated too deeply up into the mag well. The bolt wouldn't go forward because it impacted the magazine. Had a devil of a time getting that out. I suspect that magazine may be the cause of some of the other problem since once I removed that from the rotation I didn't have any other problems.

I didn't like using the monopod under the stock. Removed it and went with a rear bag and did much better with it.

Other than those issues, I enjoyed firing the weapon immensely. Love carrying it to the range in the backpack. So much more compact. It is on the heavy side. The removable barrel makes cleaning very easy. Accuracy.... well, let's just say I think it's a lot more accurate than I am right now. Need lots of practice. In spite of that I would say it was shooting better than 1 MOA.

Overall, I'm pleased with it assuming I have eliminated these chambering malfunctions. I'm looking forward to spending a lot of time with it.

Just a follow-up on the Vanquish after some more time with it. It's definitely a sub-MOA rifle with match grade factory ammo. Have run a variety of ammo through her and with some ammo I'm getting around 0.5 MOA.
Did learn a new lesson yesterday: after about 35 rounds the impact point started to drop. First couple I figured must be me. By the third round it was 2" below, then 3" then 3.5". Ok, time to see what's going on. Turns out the muzzle break had rotated slightly more than 1/8 turn. As soon as I fixed that, back on target. Surprised me that it would make that much difference. Also not sure why it would cause the impact point to drop as opposed to climb.
Other than user mistakes, she's a lot of fun to take to the range.

For the past 30 plus years I have had an opportunity to shoot some awesome gear, and I do own many high quality rifles. In the last couple of years I have gotten more enjoyment out of my GAP 260 and DTA SRS (260, 308, 338) than most. As shooting is my only real hobby since retiring from the military I spend way too much on all shooting related items. I bought the Nemesis Vanquish and was disappointed with it and shared my review of it. Sure I have had folks that never touched the rifle refer to me as an ass or idiot just for trying to prevent another member for wasting their money. While I will agree some may have had good luck, I did not. I don't post much because I prefer to shoot more than stay on the net. I could have sold my rifle easily and stuck someone else with it's issues but that's not how I roll. Since I could not get it repaired by Nemesis due to the salt nitride coating (Dave could not successfully re-cut the chamber/ did not just replace the barrel) I sent it to a real smith. I had him replace the barrel with a 5R rock creek barrel. Couldn't be happier, but after the barrel, the work on it, the shipping cost to California with insurance (130.00), and to Virginia (136.00 to my gunsmith) totaled a little over 1,000 bucks. The people on this forum use gear and some of us run it daily. That being said you may gain some insight as to wether or not a piece of gear is worth the risk be it a GAP vs whatever other great rifle or Schmidt vs NF vs USO or whatever. Buy what you want, but given the added costs I do not recommend the rifle. There are better options while I agree it's one cool rifle, but when you get serious about long range get something along the lines of GAP, Surgeon, AI, DTA, or even some lesser known smiths that do awesome work.

To Flash699... My post regarding my bad experience was in no way to discourage you and I'm glad that you got a good one so no offense. Enjoy your rifle, and I wish you well.

Had mine for about 2 years now and run it routinely. Its a .308 with a Nightforce NXS 3.5-15 X 50mm F1 and equipped with an AAC suppressor. I load my own for it, both standard recipes and sub-sonics. I also got the backpack option which easily houses the rifle, optics, suppressor, mags, kestrel, rangefinder, dope book etc etc etc.

As with any product, high end or low, one man's dream can be another's nightmare. Personally, I love it. I run a lot of match rifles and I'm not afraid to drop scratch on quality. My Vanquish has never failed to impress. It delivers exactly what it promises. Put me down in the highly recommended column.

Enjoy!
