2 Planes with 9 skydivers collide and they film it all

Everyone survived...or the skydivers survived? Didn't look real promising for the pilot of the one winger.

This occurred last month if I recall correctly. All of the skydivers managed to bailout and land safely albeit a bit bruised up. The pilot of the plane that broke apart somehow managed to exit his aircraft and deploy his chute (good thing he was wearing one). The pilot of the second aircraft, managed to safely bring it down at the airfield.

I hope never to be in a plane crash, however, if I ever am I hope it is while skydiving...

I just watched it (having seen it before) and I hadn't seen a compilation video from all the cameras. Pretty cool.

Interesting that the first jumper down still wanted to 'swoop' the cone line. Dork

As to which pilot would be at fault. In a 'formation' skydive, where two planes fly in formation before releasing the jumpers, it is the trail planes responsibility to maintain a position behind and above the lead plane. May have been a miscommunication as to the 'cut'. That's when the plane throttles back a little to allow the jumpers to climb out and exit. Lead plane may have 'cut' trail plane didn't and overtook as well as lost altitude, causing him to belly flop on the lead plane.

Speculation on my part of course, but I *do* have a couple of jumps under my belt as well as a few formation jumps.

Still a pucker factor 10 moment and a miracle that everyone escaped relatively unscathed.

I'm with CJ on this: More than one thing went wrong between the pilots, and I would be surprised if it was found to be the fault of the lower altitude airplane.

Danger level beyond that of an accidental chute deployment with an open door.

Interesting video.

Winning the lottery is nothing compared to this. 9 people can be renamed "Lucky". One of the plane wing broke off so the pilot to get out of a spinning structure even if you have a parachute is incredible luck by itself.
The pilot of the upper plane did not balance/compensate the weight correctly when the people stepped on the right side out of the plane or the lower plane pilot overcompensated too much. Both could have cause that they turn into each other's path. Incredible video.
